Unit-I Meaning of social change, nature of social change
Theories of social change. The direction of social change, the causes of social change, the process of social
change. Factors of social change – the technological factors, the cultural factors, effects of technology on
major social institutions, social need of status system, social relations in industry.
Unit-II Industrial Economics and Production functions
Meaning of Industrial Economic, Production Function, its types, Least Cost Combination, Law of Variable
Proportion, Laws of Return – Increasing, Constant & Diminishing. Fixed & variable costs in short run & long
run, opportunity costs, relation between AC & MC, U-shaped short run AC Curve. Price & Output
Determination under Monopoly in short run & long run. Price Discrimination, Price Determination under
Discriminating Monopoly. Comparison between Monopoly & Perfect Competition.
Unit-III Concept of Management and its Functions
Meaning of Management, Characteristics of Management, Management Vs. Administration, Management –
Art, Science & Profession, Fayol’s Principles of Management. Personnel Management – Meaning &
Functions, Manpower – Process of Manpower Planning, Recruitment & Selection – Selection Procedure.

Unit-I Introduction: Concept and scope of automation: Socio economic consideration: Low cost automation,
Application of the Hydraulic and pneumatic device, their limitation, advantage & disadvantage of Hydraulic
and pneumatic system.
Unit-II Fluid Power Control: Fluid power control elements and standard graphical symbols. Construction
and performance of fluid power generators; Hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders - construction, design and
mounting; Hydraulic and pneumatic valves for pressure, flow and direction control: Servo valves and simple
servo systems with mechanical feedback, governing differential equation and its solution for step position
input; Basic hydraulic and pneumatic circuits.
Unit-III Pneumatic Logic Circuits & Fluidics: Design of pneumatic logic circuits for a given time
displacement diagram or sequence of operations.
Boolean algebra; Truth tables; Conda effect; Fluidic elements – their construction working and performance
characteristics: Elementary fluidic circuits.
Unit-IV Transfer Devices , Feeders & Electrical Control : their Classification : Construction details and
application of transfer devices and feeders( vibratory bowl feeder, reciprocating tube and centrifugal hopper
feeder).
Introduction to electrical and electronic controls such as electromagnetic controllers - transducers and
sensors,

UNIT-I
P-N JUNCTION DIODE: - P-N junction and its V-I characteristics, P-N junction as rectifier, diode as a circuit
element, the load line concept, half-wave and full-wave rectifiers, filter circuits. Photoelectric devices & their
applications.
REGULATED POWER SUPPLIES: - Series and shunt voltage regulators, power supply parameters, three
terminal IC regulators, SMPS.
UNIT-II
TRANSISTORS: - Review of BJT and its Hybrid model, analysis of a transistor amplifier circuit using h-
parameters, Emitter follower, Miller’s theorem, Frequency response of R-C coupled amplifier, Multistage
amplifier, classification of amplifiers, Transistor Biasing; Operating point, Bias stability, Collector to Base bias,
Self-bias, emitter bias, bias compensation, Thermistor and sensitor compensation, High frequency limitations
on BJT’S
UNIT-III
FEEDBACK OSCILLATORS AND POWER AMPLIFIERS: - Feedback in amplifiers: Basic feedback
topologies. Oscillators: Barkhausen’s criterion, sinusoidal oscillators, Phase shift oscillators, Resonant circuit
oscillator, a general form of oscillator, the Wein Bridge oscillator, Crystal oscillator. Introduction to power
amplifiers and its various types with applications.
UNIT-IV
FIELD EFFECT TRANSISTORS: - JFET, pinch-off voltage, Volt-ampere characteristics, small signal model,
MOSFET-Enhancement & Depletion mode, V-MOSFET, JFET & MOSFET amplifiers, Biasing of JFETS and
MOSFETS.

Unit-I
Introduction: Physical properties of fluids, Measurement of pressure. Introduction to fluid mechanics.
Fluid kinematics: Streamline, path line and streak lines and stream tube, classification of flows, steady,
unsteady, uniform, non-uniform, laminar, turbulent. Rotational and irrotational flows – Equation of continuity
for one, two, three dimensional flows – Stream and velocity potential functions – Flow net analysis.
Unit-II
Fluid Dynamics: Surface and body forces – Euler’s and Bernoulli’s equations for flow along a stream line.
Momentum equation and its applications – Boundary layer along a thin flat plate – Separation of boundary
layer – Drag and lift – Flow measurement by pitot tube venturimenter and orifice meter.
Flow through closed conduit, Reynolds number laminate flow through circular tube, Hydralic gradient and
total energy lines, loss of head due to sudden enlargement and contraction.
Unit-III
Introduction: Modes of heat transfer, Mechanism of heat transfer, Basic laws of heat transfer.
Conduction: Fourier heat conduction equation, general heat condition equation, initial and boundary
conditions, one dimensional steady state conduction through homogeneous slab, cylinder and sphere.
Dimensional analysis, Rayleigh and Buckingham methods applied to heat transfer, Non-dimensional
members in heat transfer.
Boundary layer concept, concept of stagnant film, Reference temperature for evaluation of fluid properties.
Forced convection of laminar flow inside ducts and over plates. Local and average heat transfer coefficients.
Unit-IV
Radiation: Emission characteristics and laws of Black body radiation. Incident radiation, total and
Monochromatic quantities. Laws of black, Wien, Kirchoff, Lambart, Stephan and Boltzman. Heat exchange
between two black bodies, concept of shape factor, Emissivity.
Heat Exchangers: Classification of heat exchangers – overall heat transfer Coefficient and fouling factor –
Concepts of LMTD and NTU methods - Problems using LMTD and NTU methods

Unit -I Crystallography & Imperfections in Metal Crystals
Review of crystal structure, space lattice, Miller indices of crystal planes and crystal directions, co-ordination
number, number of atoms per unit cell, atomic packing factor, Numericals related to density, planar density
and inter planar distance in cubic crystals.
Crystal imperfections and their classifications, point defects, line defects, edge & screw dislocations—theory
& their properties, surface defects, volume defects. Frank read source; effects of imperfections on metal
properties.
