Junior Engineer (Civil/Electrical)
The Indian Institute of Science, a Centrally Funded Technical Institute under the Ministry of Education,
Government of India, has completed more than a century of major contributions to the nation, put in place new
infrastructure (buildings & equipment), several new interdisciplinary programs, and a brilliant faculty and has
embarked on the mission to become a world leader in advanced education and research.

The Institute is seeking applications from individuals for the following posts on direct recruitment:

Prescribed Minimum Educational Qualification / Experience:

Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree or 3-year Diploma in Civil / Electrical with a minimum of 55% of
marks or its equivalent grade from a recognized University.

Experience: 3 years of experience in central / state government or autonomous institutions or state / central
universities or PSUs on regular employment or on temporary or on a contract basis with involvement in the
preparation of estimates or e-tendering or site monitoring/supervision in large construction projects (costing
Rs. 10 Crores or more) and knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD).

Terms and conditions:

1. The candidate must be a citizen of India.


2. In addition to the Pay in the Pay Matrix as per the 7th CPC as mentioned above, the posts carry the usual
allowances at par with those admissible under IISc rules in the corresponding Pay Scale.
3. The posts of Junior Engineer (Civil) are suitable for Physically Handicapped candidates with disabilities viz.
One Arm Affected (OA) / One Leg Affected (OL).
4. Relaxations in age are applicable to Persons with Disabilities, SC, OBC-NCL candidates, and Ex- Servicemen
as per Govt of India norms as applicable to the Institute. Maximum age (including all categories) relaxation
is up to 55 years.
5. The OBC candidates must produce a valid OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate.
6. The post of Junior Engineer is on a regular basis with a probation period of 2 years.
7. Candidates have to apply online only. Incomplete applications in any respect will not be considered. No
further correspondence will be entertained in this regard. The physical applications will not be considered.
8. Certificate(s) in support of experience(s) should be on the employer’s organization’s letterhead bearing the
date of issue.
9. All the details filled in the online application will be treated as final and no changes shall be entertained
thereafter and the same will be taken into consideration for the whole recruitment process. Uploaded
documents should be clear and visible.
10. The prescribed qualifications and experience are the minimum required and the mere fact that a candidate
possesses the same will not entitle him/her for being called for an interview and/or written test. The
Institute reserves the right to restrict the no. of candidates admitted for interview to a reasonable number,
on the basis of qualifications and experience.
11. Selection for the post will be through an interview and/or written test.
12. All Candidates should obtain a NOC from the present employer (wherever applicable) and upload it online.
However, an application without NOC will also be considered provided the candidate uploads a duly signed
undertaking that the NOC will be submitted at the time of in-person Document Verification.
13. Applications should be submitted well in advance, without waiting until the last date.
14. Call letters to attend the interview and/or written test will be sent only to the short-listed candidates by
e-mail. Candidates are required to check their registered mail frequently. No correspondence will be made
with applicants who are not short-listed/not called for an interview and/or written test.
15. The Institute reserves the right to reject any application without assigning any reason thereof. The Institute
also reserves the right to cancel the advertisement/ recruitment at any stage due to any administrative
reason. No correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
16. During the period of service, every employee shall observe, obey, and abide by the Scheme, Regulations,
and Byelaws (SRB), Administrative Manuals, other statutory documents, CCS (Conduct) Rules, and CCS
(CCA) Rules, etc.
17. Those who are joining the Institute service on or after 1st January 2004 are covered under the new pension
scheme. However, employees who entered service before 31.12.2003 and who were governed by the CCS
(Pension) Rules, 1972 – shall be eligible for the GPF-cum-Pension-cum-Gratuity scheme subject to fulfilment
of the conditions prescribed for this purpose by the Govt of India.
18. The age of superannuation for all the posts is 60 years.
19. The Institute reserves the right to verify the antecedents or documents submitted by the candidate at any
time during the service. In case it is found that the documents submitted by the candidate are not genuine,
then his/her services shall be terminated, and disciplinary/criminal proceedings will be initiated.
20. Candidates who are awarded gradations under the CGPA/GPA system in respect of Diploma / Bachelor’s
Degree are advised to submit the correct percentage of marks obtained as per the University/Institute
guidelines for conversion of CGPA/GPA to the appropriate percentage. The proof (letter issued by the
University/Institute) of the same will be submitted during the document verification.
21. The details filled in by the applicants in the application form will be duly verified before publishing the
results. If the candidates fail to provide authentic proof for the details filled in by them, their candidature
will be summarily forfeited.
22. Any dispute with regard to the selection process will be subject to Honourable Court/Tribunal having
jurisdiction over Bangalore.
23. In case of any ambiguity/dispute arises on account of the interpretation between the English and other
language versions of the notification, instructions detailed in the English version shall be final.
24. The recruitment portal will be open from 28.07.2023 to 26.08.2023 (till 11:59 p.m.) for submission of
applications online.
