The learners demonstrate an understanding of the characteristics
A. Content Standards
of sound.
B. Performance
The learners shall be able to conduct a forum on mitigation and disaster risk reduction
Standards
MELC 18. Describe the characteristics of sound using the concepts of wavelength, velocity,
and amplitude.
S7LT-IIId-7
C. Learning
Competencies / At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
Objectives (Write the
LC code for each) 1. Recognize the concept of sound waves and its characteristics.
2. Demonstrate mastery of the concept by means of a collaborative activity.
3. Reflect on the importance of the existence of sound waves in their daily lives.

II. CONTENT Sound waves and its characteristics

III. LEARNING List the materials to be used in different days. Varied sources of materials sustain children's interest in the lesson and in learning. Ensure that there
is a mix of concrete and manipulative materials as well as paper-based materials. Hands on learning promotes concept development.

IV. PROCEDURE students with multiple ways to learn new things, practice their learning, question their learning processes and drew conclusion about what they
learned in relation to their life experiences and previous knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step.

 The students will sing a song entitled “Happy” accompanying by a music. They will be
advised to put their fingers in their throat area while singing.
 Reviewing previous
lesson or presenting the  What did you observe after you touch your throat area while singing? What do you think

The teacher will explain why sound waves travel the fastest in solid medium.

- What was the picture depicted?

(Sharing of ideas and discussion is as follows. Teacher will relate the reflection of
light in the reflection of sound which is the echo.

 Discussing new concepts

and practicing new skills
#1 (Explore)

- Which illustration shows high pitch and low pitch? Why?

- Which sound waves shows a sound that is pleasant to the ears?

- Do you think playing a flute and playing a guitar with the same loudness and same
pitch will create same timbre?

The Sound of Silence

 Discussing new concepts
and practicing new skills Mechanics:
#2 (Explore)
 Each group should have a three representative and they are going to fall in line with
spaces in between them.
 First base (who will answer the question)
 Second base (who will relay the answer by whispering)
 Last base (who will write the answer on the board)
 The questions are divided into two rounds (easy and difficult). For the easy round, each
question will be 2 points, while for the difficult round, each question will be 5 points.
 After the teacher’s signal, the first base can now answer the question and pass the
answer.
 A group with the highest number of points will get a prize.
