Task Description

In this module, students have developed their understanding of the types of parents and carers and how to best
prepare for the role of a parent or carer in order to optimise the wellbeing of a dependant.
For this task students are required to complete 3 extended response/exam style questions specific to the following
syllabus module:
Factors affecting the parenting and caring role.

This is an IN-CLASS Assessment Task to be completed on Friday 14th June, 2024. Please make sure you are familiar
with the procedures for completing and submitting assessment tasks. Failure to submit the task by the due date
without a medical certificate will be subject to penalty.

1. Discuss the impact of community attitudes and changes on surrogacy and adoption. (8 marks)

2. Kate and Michael have two children. Their daughter is 9 years old and has a severe physical disability. Their second child is 6 months old.
Explain the effects that the children’s characteristics could have on Kate and Michael’s parenting roles. (6 marks)

3. Assess the impact styles of parenting and caring can have on the roles of parents and carers. (8 marks)

4. One of parenting and caring responsibilities is setting limits for children. How may the setting of limits be affected by culture and gender differences?
(6 marks)

5. Compare the effects of indulgent and democratic parenting styles on the parent–child relationship. (8 marks)

6. Explain social influences on males in parenting and caring roles in a changing society. (7 marks)
