1. Ten punctuation marks
Directions: Re-write each run-on sentence below correctly. Add in the correct
punctuation mark or marks where needed.
1. John hit the baseball very far it went over the right field fence.
2. It was another ordinary day I took a walk down the tree-lined street.
3. We went to movies after the movies we went home.
4. Football is a physical game It’s so exciting to play!
5. I’m having a good day today it is my birthday.
6. What day of the week is your favorite mine is Friday.
7. The movement of the team was helpful the players were excited.
8. Be careful not to spill the milk it will ruin your new dress.
A run-on sentence occurs when two separate sentences are joined without any
form of punctuation.
Directions: Re-write the paragraph below and add punctuation to fix all run on
sentences.
Stephanie was one of the best volleyball players on the team she was able to
spike the ball consistently over the net. Stephanie was around six feet tall and she
could jump at least four feet in the air she was a team player who always looked out
for her teammates. During the championship game Stephane injured her ankle she
was still able to help the team win she overcame adversity and showed that hard work
and determination can pay off.
