Key Concepts/  Separating mixtures might be complicated to some people but we don’t even know that these
Understandings to be practices are commonly used in our homes even in our community without knowing it. Examples
developed are extracting a coconut oil using filter, picking of objects that are mixed to other objects and etc.
 There are lots of benefits we can have that can be applied in our real-life situation one of these is
when you accidentally drop metallic objects on the ground in order to find its best to use magnet
in such way, we already used the magnetization method of separating mixtures in which metal
will be separated through magnet.
1. Objectives:

4.1 Preparations Introductory Activity Ask the following questions to the pupils:
(5 minutes) 1. If we are going to find a needle mixed in sand what are we going to
use?
2. What are we going to do to separate sugar and salt in the water?
3. How are we going to do that?

4.2 Presentation Activity  Present to the class a video about methods of separating mixtures.
(40 minutes)  Let the pupils answered the following questions:

3. How does this methods helps us in daily living?
4. Give an example and explain.
5. Who can benefit these methods of separating mixtures?
Abstraction There are different ways of separating the components of a mixture. Picking,
(10 minutes) filtering, dissolving, evaporating, decanting, and using magnets are some of
these ways. In such ways, we can easily determine or identify the components of
the mixtures and helps us in daily living. It makes our work easier and faster. Not
only in our home but also in the wherein some of our industries nowadays used
different methods of separating mixtures for business purposes. (Discuss the
benefits of separating mixtures to real life situations).
