1 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Analysis

In this study, there are 4 SDGs that will be the basis and foundation of this paper. SDG 4, 9, 11, and 16 with the following target and
indicators, to wit:

Target No. 4. Quality Education.

Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Specific Indicator
Target 4.a: Build and upgrade education facilities that are child, disability and gender sensitive and provide safe, non-violent, inclusive
and effective learning environments for all

This specific target, Quality Education with its specific indicator to upgrade education facilities in an inclusive and effective learning
environment for all. This paper will explore potential use and challenges of pervasive computing in the academe.

Target No. 9 Build resilient infrastructure.

Promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Specific Indicator
Target 9.4: By 2030, upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with increased resource-use efficiency and
greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes, with all countries taking action in accordance
with their respective capabilities.

One way to make this happen is to create and develop information systems and technologies that shall cater to make the institution
sustainable through clearn and environmentally-sound technologies. This papers shall cover these review to impart in a holistic assessment
on the use of information technology though pervasive computing.

Target No. 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities.

Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable
Specific Indicator
Target 11.7: By 2030, provide universal access to safe, inclusive and accessible, green and public spaces, in particular for women and
children, older persons and persons with disabilities

Smart Campus, this is really a buzz word in today’s modern era. In the philippines, there are only several academic institutions that were
categorized as Levels 1, 2, and 3 smart campus. This paper can be used as basis for promoting ubiquitous computing to integrating to an
institution to make it ever a smarter campus.

Target No. 16. Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.

Provide Access To Justice For All And Build Effective, Accountable And Inclusive Institutions At All Levels
Specific Indicator
Target 16.10: Ensure public access to information and protect fundamental freedoms

Using this, everyone can have an equal access to information, especially on academic services.
2 Identify the need
Due to the surge of different variants of the COVID-19 virus, reducing direct physical contact is extremely important. With the aid of this
study, we will be able to assess the potential usage of IoTs and other pervasive computing technologies in the academe. May it be for health
purposes, information dissemination, density mapping, location-awareness, and the likes that should be identified and can be employed for
a quick solution to these essential concerns and challenges.

Technologies Bike Bluetooth, Near-Fied Communication (Grosse-Puppendahl et al., n.d.), RFIDs, Big Data, Cloud Computing
(Kobusiska et al., 2018)
, and RFIDs (Seol et al., 2017) suggests highly regards on developing systems that cater to pervasive applications.

There’s also a need to effectively and efficiently use smart spaces, invisibility, localized scalability, and context-awareness that enhances
and aids in the daily activities of humans. (Meshram et al., n.d.) . The need to classify state-of-the-art research performed in ubiquitous
computing is also important as a guide in providing ideas and concepts for education institutions to help them with improving their external
and internal services.

3 Identify the gaps

Many gaps should be identified. Rampant development of information systems is being implemented in every academic institution. This
entails a myriad of functionalities. Some are focusing on digitalizing their external services like admission, enrollment, accounting systems,
etc. Similar to this, some are focusing on their internal services like appointment systems, tracking documents’ whereabouts, etc. Hence, in
computing science, there is a recent development that has not yet been introduced to its usage, importance, and benefits. Possibility of
integrating these systems and working collaboratively in a seamless network with the help of the internet through the Internet-of-Things or
IoT in a pervasive computing environment.

4 Identify the challenges

Security and Privacy. In this period of the modern era, where data is the new oil, security plays a vital role in implementing any
computing-related innovations. This paper shall seek balanced information to gauge its importance notwithstanding the security and
privacy issues of individuals. There’s high regard that secured integration of IoT and Cloud Computing should be modeled to fully
integrate technologies. (Stergiou et al., 2018)

5 Understand the problem and try to ideate a possible solution

There are numerous pervasive computing that is widely developed and can be used in the academe for service improvement. The major
possible problem is there’s a lack of information on how to take advantage of this technology and use it in the academe that will help in
providing good services for the students and its clientele. Subsequently, all SUCs and other government institutions in the Philippines are
fully aware of providing ease of doing business, under the RA 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service
Delivery Act of 2018. That of which, providing efficient services is of paramount importance. An extensive survey and assessment shall be
made to review applications, features, characteristics, and other information through secondary data, particularly online records and other
scholarly works.
