Bookwork (60 mins)

1.Listen and repeat (15 mins)

 Display the activity.
 Allow half a minute for SS to look at the story
 Play recording CD2 track 12. SS follow in their books
 Play the recording again – this time Ss follow by pointing at the words on
the page as the characters say them
 Check comprehension by asking the following questions:
o Where does Emily live?
o What number is Matt’s house?
o Is Matt’s house behind Emily’s house?
o How many windows has Matt’s house got?
o What color is the door of Matt’s house?
 Role-play: All students on the left side of the class are Matt and the others
on the right side are Emily. The groups read through their respective roles in
unison. They then swap roles
 Organize the class into pairs – they act the roles of Emily and Matt. Then
they exchange roles, and repeat

2. Read and say yes or no (5 mins)

 Display the activity
 Point to sentence 1 (but don’t read it aloud yet) Ask the class to look at
Activity 1 and say “Yes or No?”
 After hearing some answers from the class, teacher tell them “Yes!” Then
read the sentence aloud
 Get the class to read the sentence together
 Repeat with the rest of the sentences

3.Say and spell (10 mins)

 Display the activity
 SS look at the outlines of buildings and the words
 Use the illustrations to elicit and practice the words
 Get SS to read aloud together each of the words at least 3 times
 Then get them to spell the words aloud together
 Nominate a S. He/she must choose one of the words and say it
 Nominate another one – this student must spell the word (without looking at
the book)
 Repeat until everybody has both said and/or spelled a word.
 Extension: Each S must tell the class “My…[house/apartment] has got …
doors and… windows”

Breaktime (10 mins)

(Have students open the books to page 79)
