Create Text Reflection in Paint.

NET

Here is a tutorial on how to make a text reflection effect in Paint.NET. To get good results, you should
avoid using letters such as j or y because the letter protrudes downward. Or you can outsmart by write
text using capital letters. To give reflection effect, we will use the Gradient Tool. To create text
reflection, we can duplicate the text layer and then rotate it using Vertical Flip. We apply the gradient
to the text reflection. For more details, please follow the steps below:

1. Create a new document then Create a New Layer.


Create a new document in Paint.NET by choosing File>New. Then choose Layers> Add New Layer.

2. Select the Text Tool Then Type Text In Document.


Click the Text icon in the Toolbox, set the font type and font size on the option bar. Select the font
color in the Colors panel. Click the mouse on the document and then write your text.

3. Adjust Text Position Using Move Selected Pixels tool.


Click the Move Selected Pixels icon and then click on the text and drag to position it on the document.

4. Duplicate The Text Layer Then Flip It Vertically.


Choose Layers> Duplicate Layers. To make our work easier, change its name to reflection. Rotate
reflection by choosing Layers> Flip Vertical. Adjust its position using the Move Selected Pixels.

5. Create Text Selection On reflection.


Click the Magic Wand icon in the Toolbox. Choose Global for Flood Mode on the option bar. Set
Tolerance to 50%. Then click on one of the letters on the reflection to make a selection. Now the text
on the reflection layer has been selected. Create a new layer by choosing Layers> Add New Layer,
name it ReflectionGradient and then uncheck the reflection.

ReflectionGradient to activate it.

6. Choose Color for Gradient.


In the Colors pane, click the More button and then on the drop down select Primary colors. Slide the
slider S to the left. The goal is to obtain a lighter color than the color of the font. Then select Secondary
on the drop down menu and drag the Transparency slider - Alpha to the left in order to obtain a
transparent color.

7. Select the Gradient Tool And Apply On ReflectionGradient.


Click the gradient icon on the toolbox. Click on the text and then drag it down to give the effect of
reflection. Press Enter to apply the gradient then remove the selection by choosing Edit> Deselect.

8. Set the Opacity ReflectionGradient.


Double click on ReflectionGradient to display its Properties and set the opacity.
