Capcut Guide

Navigating the App

1. Material Panel - This is where you can find, upload, and record media, elements, effects,
and more.
2. Preview Area - This is where your video will preview. You can interact with visual
elements in this area, including style, size, coloring, etc.
3. Timeline - This is where you can edit the timing and order of the elements in your project
by splitting and rearranging your clips.

Material Panel Items

Media - Upload, Record and browse through visual and audio media.
Templates - Pre-edited and arranged projects for plug & play video
editing!

Elements - Stock Photos, Videos, AI characters and Stickers

Filters - Pre-set filters to alter lighting, saturation, hue, and more.

Audio - Music and sound effects, broken into categories


Text - Add headings and other text, including pre-made text templates.

Captions - Automate or manually create Captions (Subtitles) or lyrics


for your videos!

Transcript - Automatically generate a transcript for your video.

Effects - Add in special video and body effects from lighting, to


electricity and more!
Transitions - Add transitions between clips such a fades, blurs and
More.

Preview Area Sidebar Editors

Ratio - change the aspect ratio of your video to match the platform you’ll
be sharing it to.

Basic - Add masks, color adjustments, transparency, or transform

Background - Add background colors and formats


Smart tools - Remove Backgrounds and Auto-Reframe

Audio - Adjust volume, fade durations, noise reduction and voice


changers, you can also add marks for beats in music and more!

Animate - Pre-made animations to bring your clips in, out, or on a loop

Speed - Adjust the speed the clip plays, or add curves in the play rate
Timeline Area Editors

Playhead - Indicates where on the timeline your preview is displaying

Split - Split your clips in two from your playhead

Delete - delete clips

Reverse - reverse the visual order of your clip

Crop - Crop the edgest of your clip


Flip - Invert/Flip your clips horizontally.

Freeze - Split and add a freeze frame in your clip

Transcript-Based Editing - Generate a transcript

Split Scene - Automatically detect and generate separate clips

Download Clip - Download a file of your clip

Zoom - Zoom in or out from your timeline

Export - Download and share your project with your friends!
