1. The arrow is the main tool you will use, keep it selected to select and move tokens on the play
area. Hovering over the arrow, you can swap between select/move and a little hand icon,
which allows you to move the workspace around.
3. The magnifying glass allows you to zoom in and out – this is useful if your mouse doesn’t have
a wheel.
5. The polyhedron is the dice tool. Just use the d6 option to roll a dice.
1. The zoom tool allows you to zoom in and out of the map.
2. The 3 lines above the scroll bar allows you to minimise the whole of the side bar (and obviously
get it back again).
3. The chat bubble is where you can type to each other. It is also where dice rolls are displayed.
4. The newspaper icon is the Journal, this is where you can drag items onto the table. More on
this later.
8. Last icon is the cog, this is where you can change your settings. You shouldn’t need to change
anything in here, however, once useful thing to change is the dice roll function, so that you
can actually roll dice on the table to save you going to chat. The two settings you need to tick
are:
Obviously your audio/video settings need to be set up as well. Note that Safari on a Mac does
not work, you will need to use Google Chrome. Mobile devices aren’t supported at present,
but will be in a month or two with a dedicated app.
The Journal
Everything you need to play a game is saved in the journal (2nd icon on the right hand side).
Just click on an item to expand it, for example, click 12 Libyan to see what is in the folder. Just
drag an element onto the table to use it.
Armies should be self explanatory, all of the bases you need are included within each list. Note
that I haven’t included separate elements for Armoured, Medium or Heavy – you can use
markers for this (see later).
2. Terrain: Everything you will need – small, medium and large terrain pieces
3. Measuring Tools: Measuring sticks from 1 to 6
4. Wheel Markers: Markers to help you wheel units accurately, from a 2 unit wide line
to a 6 unit wide line.
Just click on a unit (left mouse button) to select it. There are 2 circles that will appear below. The first
is a cog which you can ignore, however, the other is how you access markers.
There are two rows of markers. The top row is a series of colours, to use as you see fit, and an X which
is useful to mark a dead unit. The second row has markers as follows, from left to right:
NB I may add more markers, but hopefully they will be self explanatory.
Moving Units
You can select an individual unit and drag it around the table. To rotate the unit, look for the thin blue
line with a square, click the square and keep the mouse button held down, then move the mouse to
rotate the base.
You can select multiple units, and move (or rotate) them as a group by “drawing” a box over all of the
units. In the following example, I clicked top left, kept the mouse button held down, and released the
mouse bottom right.
Precise Movement and Selection
For accurate movement, there are a number of keyboard shortcuts you can use. For precise movement
of a unit or group, hold down the alt key, and use the arrow keys to move the unit(s) in small
increments (about 3 pixels at a time).
You can also use keyboard shortcuts in combination with the mouse for precise rotation of a unit or
group. Hold down E to use the mouse wheel to rotate in 45 degree increments. Hold down Alt and E
to use the mouse wheel to rotate in 1 degree increments.
Sometimes it can be difficult to select units, without selecting measuring sticks or wheel markers. All
of the later game tools are “drawings” as opposed to tokens. If you only want to select units (tokens)
and not, for example, a wheel marker (drawing) then just hold the Control key when selecting.
If you only want to select drawings, then hold the alt key when selecting.
If you want to “book a table” just contact me – I will create a duplicate of the “master” game and send
you a new link to use. I will also promote one (or both) of you to GM as there is some additional
functionality you will need if you are playing a game without me.
Once you have completed terrain placement, right click on the terrain piece and use the following
context menu – by selecting “MAP LAYER” you can send the terrain piece to the map layer, locking it
so that it can no longer be moved.
There is a downside to being GM in that you will have extra menu items and tokens may have
additional circles above them, so if this bothers you, after locking the game, go to “settings” (the cog
on the right hand side, and choose the re-join as a player option which is near the top before you
deploy.
