LIVE: solve for the sum of a given set.

Week 1 Explore
Day 1 ACTIVITY 1:
Question Guide:

1. Can you name the rules when adding the numbers?

2. Can you explain why 1 + 2 and 2 + 1 give the same sum?

Firm-Up

ACTIVITY 2:
The teacher will present the topic and objectives of the lesson.
The teacher will facilitate the students how to adds 3- to 4-digit numbers up to three addends with sums up to 10 000 without and with regrouping
and identifies ordinal numbers from 1st to 100th with emphasis on the 21st to 100th object in each set from a given point of reference.

ACTIVITY 3: DEVELOP AND DEMOSTRATE

The teacher will provide activities to practice their skills
Give the missing number, find the sum, and identify its ordinal number.
1. 8 + (6+5) = (8+6) + ___ =
2. 9 + (3+7) = (9+3) + ___ =
3. (6+4) + 9 = ___ + (4+9) =
4. 11+ 22 + 33 =
5. 61+23 +=15

ACTIVITY 4:
The teacher will:
1. Ask the students to answer the given problems in a sheet of paper.
2. Give the students some time to answer on their own
3. Call a student to show his/her answer on a board.
4. Let the students explain how he/she came up with the answer presented on the board.
Give the missing number, find the sum, and identify its ordinal number.
1. 7 + (1+3) = (7+1) + ___ =
2. 9 + (9+9) = (9+9) + ___ =
3. (5+2) + 1 = ___ + (2+1) =

Generalization: (ask the students with the following questions)
How to add the more than two addends?
What do we need to know about addition?
Applications and Values Integration:
To integrate values and build connection to the real word, ask the ff. Questions:
Why do we need to add more than two addends?
When can addition applies in our daily life basis?
ASSESSMENT:
Give the missing number, find the sum, and identify its ordinal number.
1. 4 + (2+3) = (4+1) + ___ =
2. 5 + (1+6) = (5+1) + ___ =
3. (7+0) + 1 = ___ + (0+1) =
