within the 1hr 50 min allotted during class time Oct 5, except for students in
Asian time zones who will be allowed the period 7 - 8:50 pm Eastern Standard

(I) 6 Multiple choice questions worth 2 pts each where you answer YES or
NO:

(i) In ten trials of a fair coin, is the probability of {five heads, 5 tails} equal
1/2 ?

(ii) In ten trials of a fair coin, is the probability of {3 heads, 7 tails} greater
than the probabiliy of {3 tails, 7 heads} ?

(iii) Is the probability that the last (10th) toss comes up head, equal to 3/4?

(iv) Is the size (cardinality) of the universal set of all outcomes in ten tosses
of a fair coin, equal to 25 ?

(v) Is P (A [ B) = P (A) + P (B) for all A, B?

(vi) In the alphabet of 26 letters, used randomly to form words, is the prob-
ability of a four letter word starting with the letter ”s” equal to 1/26 ?

(II) 3 Word problems

(i) (4 pts) The first question concern three cards in a hat, one is blue on
both sides, the second is red on both sides, and the third card has one side blue
and the other red. The experimental procedure of (1) drawing a card at random
from hat and choosing one side to show, and (2) showing side 2. 红
