BUSINESS ETHICS
Assignment

Directions: Identify 10 personal traits that would be included in your personal code of right conduct. Explain how you will implement
this trait in your daily life.

1. Objectivity
- In a business, objectivity is essential in preserving employee loyalty and preventing ethical disagreements.
Objectivity allows individuals to make decisions based on facts and evidence, rather than personal biases or
opinions. When objectivity is maintained in a business, fairness is also practiced. From the distribution of wages
and assignment of positions, objectivity allows equality to happen as well. As someone known for having the
leader figure in my class, I would apply this in daily life by setting aside personal beliefs when making decisions
concerning the group works I work with at school. Even with the way that I treat people that I interact with every
day, I will make sure to avoid focusing only on what I believe. I will not use that to invalidate their own opinions
and perceptions.

2. Sympathy
- Sympathy improves communication, enhances teamwork, and even increases motivation among employees. It
helps to create a positive and supportive work environment, which can lead to better performance, productivity,
and well-being for everyone involved. I know many individuals who face difficult situations or challenges, such
as personal problems, health issues, or work-related stress. Sympathy can be applied in my daily life by making
these people feel that someone understands them; letting them know that their feelings are valid and that
someone acknowledges what they’re going through. This can help them to feel valued and supported.

3. Thoughtfulness
- Based on how I see it, most business-related disagreements and conflicts are rooted in a lack of thoughtfulness.
Thoughtfulness is included in my own personal code of ethics because it can improve relationships between
colleagues and create a more positive work environment. When individuals take the time to consider the needs
and feelings of others, they are more likely to build stronger and more meaningful relationships with their
coworkers. I have already applied this trait during the days I spent on Work Immersion. When a colleague
commits mistakes, I try to understand how they ended up committing such mistakes and avoid making them feel
bad for it.

4. Open-mindedness
- Businesses innovate to create products or services that would profit the business. The absence of
open-mindedness between business owners and employees would hinder the business’ growth and innovation.
New ideas and creations are welcomed if an individual is open-minded. It allows people to be open to change
and accept ideas even if it disagrees with their own for the purpose of improvement. I would apply
open-mindedness in daily life by being open to judgment, considering new ideas, listening to different
perspectives, and accepting critiques from the people that I work with.

5. Dedication
- Dedicated employees are more likely to be committed to their work, which can lead to improved performance
and productivity. When employees are dedicated to achieving their goals, they are more likely to put in the effort
and time needed to succeed. I think dedication is being applied in my daily life when I don’t sacrifice the quality
of my work just because I want to finish it right away. I make sure that I deliver my best every time and I am
always focused on the goal to succeed.

6. Consistency
- Consistency helps to build trust with customers, employees, and other stakeholders. When a business delivers
consistent quality, reliability, and customer service, it creates a positive reputation and fosters trust and loyalty.
In everyday life as I submit and finish school requirements to my subject teachers, I maintain a consistent
quality of the work that I pass so that my marks are kept high and the image that I have is associated with
positive remarks.
7. Politeness
- Politeness helps to create positive relationships with customers, clients, and colleagues. When people are
treated with politeness and respect, they are more likely to have a favorable view of the business and feel
valued as individuals. It also creates a positive impression on the business and its employees. I can apply
politeness in everyday life mostly at school since I interact with a lot of people there. Even though I frequently
become the leader on group tasks, I still interact with my members politely and not with an aggressive and
demanding attitude just because I am the leader.

8. Compliance
- Compliance can contribute to operational efficiency by reducing errors, delays, and rework. When employees
follow established procedures and guidelines, they can work more efficiently and effectively. Organizations
typically follow a hierarchy of commands in performing their everyday operations. If employees maintain good
compliance in a business, it allows the operations to be conducted smoothly and efficiently. Businesses have
legal and ethical obligations to comply with laws, regulations, and industry standards. Compliance avoids legal
penalties, reputational damage, and loss of customers and revenue from happening. I am already applying this
in everyday life as I comply with the commands instructed by our teachers. I have noticed that having good
compliance contributes to the improvement of my reputation and helps me to manage my work smoothly as
well.

9. Trustworthiness
- Trust creates a good foundation in a business. Trust is the foundation of any strong relationship, whether it is
between colleagues, clients, or customers. When there is trust between individuals, it creates a sense of safety
and security, and allows for open communication and collaboration. I practice being trustworthy in everyday life
by not disclosing any information that is not meant to be shared. It can be from a friend, family, or colleague.
When someone shares ideas with me, I make sure that they can be open to me and that I’m someone that they
can trust so that they can feel safe to take risks and share their ideas with other people.

10. Reliability
- In an organization, it is most important for employees to practice being reliable for the smooth flow of
operations. When employees become reliable, it can help in reducing the time and effort required for monitoring,
oversight, and micromanagement. When individuals feel like they can rely on each other, they are more likely to
work independently and take ownership of their work, which can lead to higher-quality results and greater
efficiency. I practice being reliable at school: I always deliver the quality of work that is expected of me and
always make sure that I meet the expectations that they have set. At home, being the eldest daughter, I can be
relied on by my parents to look after the house or my siblings when they’re away.
