ACTIVITY 3 (WEEK 3)
EVALUATION OF THE INTEGRATION OF TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM

Instructions:
A. Reflect on your practice.
B. Use the SAMR model to identify various stages of your experiences of
integrating technology in your classes.
C. Make a Plan of Action on what specific things you want to improve after
learning the SAMR Model.

Note: Make it a goal to apply for transformation uses of technology rather than for
enhancement only.

1. Reflect on your practice.


Even way back as a high school student I make good use of technology in presenting my
reports in class and presiding over meetings as a student council leader. I always pair the use
of laptop and projector with the traditional blackboard to present the crucial ideas visually
beyond the ordinary. This ensures that the presentations are clearer and can be conveyed
more swiftly.
As a math and a science teacher at the same time, the use of PowerPoint and audio-
visual presentations were very beneficial to me as a facilitator of learning and effective in
engaging the interest of the students. Topics in physics were simplified through animated
graphics, earth and life science topics were full of exciting discoveries through various trivia
found in videos online, and disaster risk reductions discussions were eye openers with use of
real footage of people trying to survive. And of course, during math discussions, competitions
are on as I am so fond of making math quiz shows to draw out each students’ finesse in trying
to ace problem solving questions.
My science and math subjects become the bias of my students as it was always their
most awaited classes for the week. Thanks to my clever integration of technology during our
classes.

blessing that I’m so grateful to have experienced. The opportunity to have fun and learn more
directly gave us a really good time, as a teacher and with the students alike. Hopefully, more
teachers will tap into this potential, especially those aspiring and upcoming educators. As for me,
I believe there is a lot more to learn, just like way back when I had only started as teacher, full of
excitement and bright ideas.
3. Make a Plan of Action on what specific things you want to improve after learning the
SAMR Model.
As what I had learned this semester, I’m glad that I actually had reached the point of
redefinition according to the SAMR Model. I’m more than excited than ever to continue my
teaching approach wherein I focus more into students producing real outputs and sharing their
new found knowledge for I had a belief that we learn more of something if we try to teach it to
others.
