Overview
The V3 HD StumpCam system consists of the
following parts:
1. Stumps with protective socks
2. Manhole boxes situated in the hole
behind the wickets
3. Boundary box at the boundary
4. Remote control panel (RCP) in the truck

The following sections detail the

functionality of these components.

Stumps
Arange of neutral density filters is
necessary, to achieve optimum supplied in the kit. These may be inserted behind the lens, if
exposure.
Focusing is achieved by rotating the whole lens using the supplied lens
The lens can be tilted up to adjusting tool.
achieve the correct framing,

Stump Leads
The stump leads come standard lengths of 8m, 12m and 20m.
An optional set of short lengths (0.25m, 0.5m, 2m) may also be
provided upon request as well an
extra-long 60m cable.
Always inspect the connectors for dirt and damage before mating. Keep the connectors clean, dry
and always use the supplied dust caps.
Avoid connecting and disconnecting stumps while system is powered.

HD-SDI Out

Tne vs Manhole Box supports one stump and

connects to the boundary box using a single
Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a cable.
Two microphone connectors are included for future use.
An HD-SDI output is also provided to aid
framing the image by using a local monitor.
There are two LEDs within the RJ45
connector which indicate the following:
Green LED: Link established
Orange LED: Video present
Manhole to Boundary Cabling
The manhole boxes are connected to the
boundary box using twisted pair cable with 8P8C (RJ45)
terminations. Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6a may all be used, however the maximum cable length achievable
is related to the category of the cable used:

Cable Type Typical Maximum Length

Cat5e 100m
Cat6 120m
Cat6a 140m

In order to maximise the achievable cable length the following should be considered:

Try to keep cables as short as possible.

Avoid using inline/feed-thru adaptors and patch leads.
Use high quality cables and connectors.

3

Ensure connectors are correctly crimped and are clean and dry.

Bundling multiple unscreened cables together willintroduce alien crosstalk and may cause reduction
in the maximum working cable length. Using screened cable may help resolve this issue.
Quality of connectors, quality of crimp, condition of cable and connectors all may reduce the
maximum cable length achievable.

Ihe cables should be wired as straight-through Ethernet cables with T-568B pin-out on both ends as
shown below:

Boundary Box
The Boundary Box supports two StumpCams and for each channel provides two HD-SDl outputs plus
two line level audio.

Data should be connected to either XLR-3, which are looped. The boundary box routes the data to
each stump depending the position of the ID select rotary switch and which channel is selected on
the RCP.

It is possible to connect one RCP to multiple boundary boxes by either daisy-chaining the data, or
using aY-split cable. Use the rotary ID select switch toassign each boundary box unique lDs.
POWER (Red): Light s toshow that unit is powered
DATA IN (Orange): Flashes when valid data packets are receivedfrom the RCP
DATA AB(Orange): Flashes when the data matches the channel ID for A/B
LINK A/B (Yellow): Lights when the link between boundary box and manhole box has been
esta''shed (there may be a delay in setting up the link on longer cable runs)
VIDEO A/b(Green): Lights when a valid video signal is being received from the connected Manhole
Box

RCP
The RCP communicates with the boundary boxes via RS422. The RS422 output is present on the 9
way d-type connector of the RCP. Use the supplied break-out cable to
to XLR3-M. A regular mic cable can then be used to convert from the 9-way d-type
connect to the boundary Box.
Power is applied to the RCP via the 15-way d-type
the supplied 15-way d-type to XLR4-M connector. The power supply connects to this via
connector.
See the RCP user guide for further
information.
