About Fortinet:

o Fortinet is an American multinational corporation headquartered in Sunnyvale, California.


o Fortinet company develops & markets cybersecurity software and appliances and services.
o It is worldwide provider of network security appliance & market leader in Network Security.
o It provides a broad array of security and networking functions, consists physical & virtual.
o Including a firewall, VPN, antivirus, IPS, Web filtering, antispam, and WAN acceleration.
o It provides complete suite of products they can be purchased individually or combined.
o Fortinet products such as firewalls, anti-virus, intrusion prevention and endpoint security.
o Fortinet multinational corporation was founded in 2000 by brothers Ken and Michael Xie.
o The company's first product was FortiGate, a firewall, later adding wireless access points.

o Both the Fortinet and Palo Alto provide similar, but substantially different feature sets.

o Either Fortinet or Palo Alto Network can be viable for traditional firewall needs to deploy.

Fortinet Network Security Expert(NSE4). The NSE 4 Network Security Professional designation
recognizes the ability to install and manage the day-to-day configuration, monitoring, and
operation of a FortiGate device to support specific corporate network security policies.

FortiGate:
FortiGate is an advanced Firewall of Fortinet, known as the Next Generation Firewall (NGFW).
There are a number of models that are either physical (Hardware Appliance) or Virtual (for
various hypervisors - VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer, OpenXEN, KVM).
We focus on the virtual version here, but it doesn't matter much, because all FortiGates are
equipped with the same FortiOS Operating System.
