Week 6 of Spanish rotation

Preps

Preps this week are going to learn the story of Super eñe. First of all, they will listen to the
ABC song in Spanish and will have to clap when they see a letter that they don’t have in the
English alphabet.

That letter is Eñe, and this is her story:

There we 2 twin sisters who got lost in the forest. One was Ene and the other ones was Eñe,
who had a scarf so her mum could tell them apart. They couldn’t find their way back home.
They looked everywhere but after hours they were still lost.

But then a butterfly really liked Eñe´s scarf, so they made a deal, if the butterfly showed
them the way out of the forest, Eñe would let her rest on her scarf as much as it wanted.
After only a few minutes they found their mum and they also became friends with the
butterfly who found a perfect bed on the scarf!

Eñe is such a special letter and it only exists in Spanish, so there is even a Spanish "super
hero" called Super Eñe, but he is not your typical super hero, he is really silly. You can see on
the next 2 videos:

After watching the videos, students can do a colouring sheet of Super Eñe in which they will
need to draw "Ñ" on his suit.

If they finish the activity, they can pack up and sing these songs:

If you have extra time, you can play a colour hunt (you say a colour and they need to find it
around the classroom) or ask them to do some unfinished work.
Years 1 and 2

Start by playing the song of the numbers from 1 to 20 in Spanish and ask students to guess
what the song was about and if they remember any numbers. Then write all the numbers
from 1 to 20 on the whiteboard and ask them if they know how to say them in Spanish. You
can write the ones they don’t know and then ask if they see any pattern.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=DxIGzsIfvhc

Numbers from 11 to 15 all finish with -ce and start with similar sounds to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Numbers 16 to 19 have two words that sound like diez and another number, so they literally
mean ten and six, ten and seven, ten and eight, ten and nine.

After explaining, ask them to close their eyes to play a game, tell them that you will play the
song twice and they cannot open their eyes until the song has finished twice and you have
told them you are ready. While their eyes are closed, you will hide the numbers from 1 to 20
that you will find in the folder on my desk around the classroom. Then tell them that you
have hidden some numbers, and they will have to place them on the board in order, but
there are 2 rules: 1, they cannot hold more than one number at a time and 2, they need to
line up to place the numbers on the white board in order with some Blu-tack. Once they got
them right you can play again, now play the song 3 times and take some time to hide them
more difficult.
Years 3 and 4

Show the PowerPoint trying to guess the meanings in Spanish (there are translations, don’t
worry). Then students will start doing their wordsearch. It is important that they glue it to
their books because they will not finish it by today. Students will use their devices to
translate the meaning of the words they find on their wordsearch and write the meaning
next to the Spanish words.

Years 5 and 6

Students should have already finished their scripts and should be creating props for their
videos or practising their lines. If they haven’t finished writing their script nor translating, ask
them to finish today. Some groups should start recording this week, some others will record
next week.
