Who Inspires You?
Step 1: Vocabulary
A) Write the definition after each vocabulary word or phrase in the box below. The first one
is done for you.
Inspiration (noun): the feeling of being suddenly interesting in doing something creative

Characteristic (noun):A feature or quality that is typical of a particular person or thing.

Role-model (noun): A person whose behavior, actions, or achievements serve as an


example for others to follow.

To inspire (verb): To fill someone with the urge or ability to do or feel something,
especially to do something creative.

Admirable (adjective):Deserving respect and approval due to qualities such as courage,


kindness, or skill.

Brave (adjective): Showing courage in the face of danger or difficulty.

Humble (adjective): Having a modest or low view of one's own importance; unpretentious.

Resourceful (adjective):Skilled at finding ways to deal with difficult situations or problems.

Generous (adjective): Willing to give more of something, such as time or money, than is
strictly necessary or expected

Driven (adjective): Highly motivated and determined to achieve goals.

B) Choose 4 words and write one sentence using each one in the box below.

Step 3: Professional Writing 1 Draft
You are applying for your dream job. In the job application, they ask for you to describe
someone who has inspired you in the professional world.

Requirements:
● Write a brief physical description of the person who has inspired you.
● Write about some of their personality characteristics.
● Write about a time or moment that was inspirational to you and/or write a short
story about something that happened that inspired you.
● Write about what you learned from the person that inspires you.
● Use at least 3 vocabulary words.
● Write at least 250 words in the box below.

Recommendations:
 Write a series of questions that you would ask the person that inspires you. (Unit 3,
Language Points 1 and 2)
 Use used to and would (Unit 4, Language Point 1)
 Use the past simple (Unit 2, Language Point 1)

Upper Case/Capitalize: The first letter in the word must be made bigger.
Incorrect example: I have an appointment on wednesday.
Correct example: I have an appointment on Wednesday.

Lower Case: The first letter in the word must be made smaller.
Incorrect Example: It’s His car.
Correct Example: It’s his car.

New Paragraph: Separate the current paragraph into two or more paragraphs.
Example: Paragraph about two ideas should be separated. For example, a paragraph that contains
both pros and cons about airplane travel should be separated into one paragraph about the pros of
airplane travel and one paragraph about the cons of airplane travel.

Spelling: Correct the spelling of the word.


Incorrect example: unbelievebly
Correct example: unbelievably

Word order: Words need to be rearranged so that they are in the proper order.
Incorrect example: I will be not here today.
Correct example: I will not be here today.

Word choice: The word needs to be changed to a better or more correct word.
Incorrect example: She is too pretty.
Correct example: She is very pretty.

Preposition: The preposition needs to be changed to a better or more correct preposition.


Incorrect example: That depends of your opinion.
Correct example: That depends on your opinion.

Gerund/Infinitive: Change the gerund to an infinitive or change an infinitive to a gerund.


Incorrect examples: To smoke is bad for you. Do you want smoking now?
Correct examples: Smoking is bad for you. Do you want to smoke now?

Too long/Incomplete: The sentence needs to be shortened (too long) or lengthened (incomplete).
Incorrect example:
Too long: I think that we should give everyone a chance, because everyone deserves a chance
because everyone is human, so we should help each other and love each other.
Incomplete: Because everyone deserves a chance.
Correct example:
Too long: I think we should give everyone a chance because people are human. We should help
each other and love each other.
Incomplete: We should give everyone the benefit of the doubt, because everyone deserves a chance.

Rewrite: The sentence needs to be completely rewritten because it is too difficult to understand
and/or has many grammatical errors.
Incorrect example: He not been being a good people because to her he were meaning.
Correct example: He is not/has not been a good person because he was mean to her.
