REASON/DESCRIPTION/OPERATIONAL CONSEQUENCES

This Service Bulletin is issued to advise all operators of A319, A320 and A321
aircraft, equipped with IAE engines, of the issue of THALES AVIONICS Service
Bulletin No. B546CCM-22-005.

The following events related to Flight Guidance and Management Computer (FMGC)
have been reported :

— Several issues of limited Flight Director (FD) and/or Autopilot (AP) orders
when executing a turn. Actually, the FD bar was giving a 5 degrees bank angle
order (potentially affecting A319, A320 and A321 aircraft)

— Abrupt pitch-up due to untimely glide captures (potentially affecting A319

aircraft only).

This Service Bulletin replaces, in the Aft Electronics Rack 80VU, both Flight
Management and Guidance Computers (FMGCs) PN B546CCM0104 by two modified ones PN
B546CCM0105.

This new FMGC standard is obtained either by :

— Replacement or reprogramming of the On-Board Replaceable Modules (OBRMs), or

— Replacement of the FMGCs.

Installation of these new FMGCs will correct the bank angle limitation
(potentially affecting A319, A320 and A321 aircraft) and the untimely glide
captures (potentially affecting A319 aircraft only).

(1) History

(2) Objective/Action

This Service Bulletin is issued to advise all operators of A319,

A320 and A321 aircraft, equipped with IAE engines, of the issue of
THALES AVIONICS Service Bulletin No. B546CCM-22-005.

This Service Bulletin replaces, in the Aft Electronics Rack 80VU,

both Flight Management and Guidance Computers (FMGCs) PN
B546CCM0104 by two modified ones PN B546CCM0105.

This new FMGC standard is obtained either by :

— Replacement or reprogramming of the On-Board Replaceable Modules

(OBRMs), or

— Replacement of the FMGCs.

(3) Advantages

Installation of these new FMGCs will correct the bank angle

limitation (potentially affecting A319, A320 and A321 aircraft) and
the untimely glide captures (potentially affecting A319 aircraft
only).

(4) Operational/Maintenance Consequences

The operational/maintenance consequences of this Service Bulletin

is the cancellation of OEB 141 for A319/A320/A321 aircraft and of
OEB 143 for A319 aircraft.

Also, Flight Crew Operating Manual (FCOM) Vol. 3 and Vol. 4 have
been modified.

D. DESCRIPTION

To accomplish this Service Bulletin you have two possibilities ; either

you modify the FMGCs as described in ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
paragrph B.(1) or you replace them as described in ACCOMPLISHMENT
INSTRUCTIONS paragrph B.(2).

F. APPROVAL

The technical content of this Service Bulletin has been approved under
the authority of the DGAC Design Organisation Approval No. F.JA.02.

If an aircraft listed in the effectivity has a modification or repair

embodied that is not of AIRBUS origin, and which affects the content of
this Service Bulletin, the operator is responsible for obtaining
approval by its airworthiness authority for any adaptation necessary
before incorporation of the Service Bulletin.

G. MANPOWER

The manpower estimates given in this Service Bulletin are based on the
direct labor cost to do the work. These estimates assume that the work
will be done by experienced personnel, and may need to be revised
upwards to suit operators' circumstances. The estimates do not include
the time to prepare, plan or inspect the work. Manufacture and
procurement of parts and tools, drying times for paints, sealants, etc,
and general administration work are also not included.

3. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS

A. GENERAL

WARNING : MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE WARNINGS AND ALL THE CAUTIONS
INCLUDED IN THE REFERENCED PROCEDURES.

CAUTION : ALWAYS OBEY THE PRECAUTIONS THAT FOLLOW TO KEEP ELECTRICAL

WIRING IN A SATISFACTORY CONDITION (ELECTRICALLY AND
MECHANICALLY SERVICEABLE). WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE WORK,
REPAIRS OR MODIFICATIONS, ALWAYS KEEP ELECTRICAL WIRING,
COMPONENTS AND THE WORK AREA AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE. TO DO THIS:

— PUT PROTECTION, SUCH AS PLASTIC SHEETING, CLOTHS, ETC. AS

NECESSARY ON WIRING AND COMPONENTS

— REGULARLY REMOVE ALL SHAVINGS, UNWANTED MATERIAL AND OTHER

CONTAMIANTION.

THESE PRECAUTIONS WILL DECREASE THE RISK OF CONTAMINATION AND

DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL WIRING INSTALLATION.

IF THERE IS CONTAMINATION, REFER TO ESPM 20-55-00, CLEANING.

(1) Preparation

(a) Electrically ground the aircraft, (Refer to AMM 12-34-24 Page

block 201).

(b) Put the access platform(s) in position.

(c) Open the passenger/crew door 841, (Refer to AMM 52-10-00 Page
block 201).

(d) Open the avionics door 824, (Refer to AMM 52-41-00 Page block
1).

(2) Standard Practices

None

B. MODIFICATION

NOTE : To accomplish this Service Bulletin you have two possibilites:

— Either you modify the FMGCs as described in ACCOMPLISHMENT

INSTRUCTIONS paragraph B. (1) below

or

— You replace them as described in ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS

paragraph B. (2) below.

For the OBRM replacement or the OBRM reprogramming, refer to the

THALES AVIONICS Service Bulletin No. B546CCM-22-005 .

(1) Replace or reprogram the OBRMs

(a) Do the operational test of the Automatic Flight System (AFS),

(Refer to AMM 22-96-00 Page block 501).

NOTE : As an alternative, you can do this operational test

without the CFDS, (Refer to AMM 22-10-00 Page block
501).

(b) Do the LRU identification test

page, (Refer to AMM 31-32-00 Page block 201).

b Make sure that these circuit breakers are closed:

b On the MCDU, push the line key adjacent to the RETURN

indication until the CFDS MENU page comes into view.

c On the MCDU, turn the BRT knobs to the OFF position.

d Open, safety and tag these circuit breakers:

(c) Remove the OBRMs from the FMGCs 1CA1 and 1CA2.

(d) Install the new or reprogrammed OBRMs in the FMGCs 1CA1 and
1CA2.

(e) On the front face of the FMGCs 1CA1 and 1CA2, make sure that
the PN is B546CCM0105.

(2) Replace the FMGCs 1CA1 and 1CA2

(Refer to AMM 22-83-34 Page block 401)

(a) Remove :

2 FMGC B546CCM0104

(b) Install :

2 FMGC B546CCM0105

C. TEST

(1) Test after the replacement or reprogramming of the OBRMs

(a) Do the LRU identification test :

a Do the procedure to get access to the SYSTEM REPORT/TEST

page, (Refer to AMM 31-32-00 Page block 201).

b Make sure that these circuit breakers are closed :

On the A/C STATUS page:

— Do a check of the active data base of the installed FMGC for

correct dates and serial numbers shown (it is necessary to
open the circuit breaker of the opposite FMGC)

— If not, do the loading of the correct data base with the

portable data loader, or do the cross-loading, (Refer to AMM
22-70-00 Page block 301).

(d) If the airline operates the aircraft in CAT3 conditions, do

the LAND CAT3 capability test, (Refer to AMM 22-97-00 Page
block 501).

(2) Test after the replacement of the FMGCs

(a) Do the operational test of the AFS

(Refer to AMM 22-96-00 Page block 501)

NOTE : As an alternative, you can do this operational test

without the CFDS, (Refer to AMM 22-10-00 Page block
501).

(b) Do the operational test of the MCDU

(Refer to AMM 22-70-00 Page block 501)

On the A/C STATUS page :

— Do a check of the active data base of the installed FMGC for

correct dates and serial numbers shown (it is necessary to
open the circuit breaker of the opposite FMGC)

— If not, do the loading of the correct data base with the

portable data loader, or do the cross-loading, (Refer to AMM
22-97-00 Page block 501).

(c) If the airline operates the aircraft in CAT3 conditions, do

the LAND CAT3 capability test,(Refer to AMM 22-97-00 Page
block 501).

D. CLOSE UP

(1) Make sure that the work areas are clean and clear of tools and
other items of equipment.

(2) Close the avionics door 824, (Refer to AMM 52-41-00 Page block 1).

(3) Close the passenger/crew door 841, (Refer to AMM 52-10-00 Page
block 1).

(4) Remove the access platform(s).

(5) Disconnect the aircraft electrical ground-connection, (Refer to AMM

12-34-24 Page block 201).

E. DOCUMENTATION

Write in the applicable aircraft records that you have done all the work
given in the Service Bulletin.
