I chose SLU because of its excellent faculty. While researching the university, I became particularly
interested in the work of Professors Maria Weber, Md Ali, and Nathan. Additionally, SLU has a strong
Cybersecurity program that covers both theoretical and practical aspects.
Maria Weber is the Director of the Cybersecurity program and focuses on Information Systems, Cloud
Computing, and Virtualization. Md Ali will teach Cybersecurity principles and researches Cybersecurity,
Cyber crimes, Operating Systems, and AI. Nathan has experience in professional organizations like the
Association of Old Crows, IALEIA, and IACA. Learning from these skilled professors will greatly enhance
my knowledge.
6.Can you provide an example of a specific challenge you faced in your job and how you resolved it?
One big challenge I faced was unusual network traffic that looked like a security breach. I checked the
traffic logs and found signs of a possible man-in-the-middle attack. I quickly isolated the affected part of the
network and added stricter firewall rules and better monitoring. After fixing the issue, I documented what
happened and updated our security protocols to prevent it from happening again. This experience taught me
the importance of being alert and responding quickly in network security.
8.How do you ensure that firewall configurations are effective and up-to-date?
I regularly reviewed and updated the firewall rules based on new security threats and the organization's
needs. I performed regular audits and checks to find any weaknesses. I also kept up with new security
updates from firewall vendors and applied them quickly. Documenting all changes and holding regular
training sessions for the IT team, helped maintain strong firewall configurations.
9.Why is monitoring network traffic important in your job?
Network traffic monitoring is crucial as a network engineer as it detects and addresses suspicious activities,
like unauthorized access or malware infections. Analyzing traffic patterns helps spot anomalies early,
enabling proactive protection. It also aids compliance with security policies and regulations.
13.In your four years of study, have you had any failures?
Yes, I have faced challenges and setbacks during my studies. However, these experiences taught me
resilience and problem-solving skills. For example, I initially struggled with a particularly difficult course in
my second year, which resulted in a lower grade than I expected. However, this experience taught me the
importance of seeking help and improving my study habits. I approached my professors for guidance, and
dedicated more time to understanding the material.
21.Explain how your first semester subjects are going to be useful for your career?
These subjects will provide me with a strong foundation in Cyber Security principles and techniques. For
example, Cybersecurity Principles will teach me key Cybersecurity concepts, historical breaches, and best
practices for organizational security, while Data Administration will teach me data security principles and
methods to protect data across its lifecycle. This knowledge is critical for a career in Cybersecurity.
25.How is your masters in Cybersecurity related to your work experience as a networking engineer?
My masters in Cybersecurity is related to my work as a networking engineer. In my job,I learned a lot about
network infrastructure, protocols, and security measures. This knowledge is important for finding and fixing
security problems. With a masters in Cybersecurity, I want to learn more about protecting networks from
Cyber threats and creating advanced security plans. My hands-on experience with networks will help me
implement strong Cybersecurity solutions.
28.How do you plan to repay all the money spent by you on this course?
After completing my study, when I will come back to India, then master degree from SLU will definitely
help me out to seek for high paid salary jobs, basically it will boost my career opportunities. So, I am pretty
much sure that, I will be working for good company which pays me high salary.
