Legacy Data Migration Process - SAP S4 Hana Public Cloud
Legacy Data Migration Process - SAP S4 Hana Public Cloud
In this step, we have to set the posting date on which we want to transfer legacy data. If we Go-Live the
project on the 1st of April then we will set the posting date 31st of March for uploading all opening balances
from the legacy system to the new system.
After logon SAP S4 Hana Cloud through the URL with the Google page.
- Search “Define Settings for Legacy Data Transfer” Tiles, see the above screenshot
The migration cockpit is a tool in the SAP S4 Hana cloud, it is used to migrate or transfer transactional data,
vendor master data, customer master data, asset master data, cost center and profit center master data
from the legacy system to the SAP system. Transferring existing or legacy data is generally the first action
after the system design/configuration and master data creation.
Step 1: Create the Data Migration Project
- Go to the Create option and click on “Migrate Data Using Staging Tables”
- Search & select the object “FI – G/L account balance and open/line item”
- Select the migration object from the list of “Available Migration Objects”.
- Click on the right arrow button to transfer the object to the list of “Selected Migration Objects”
Note: Migration objects are delivered by the SAP and they describe how to migrate data from the source
system to the SAP S/4 HANA public cloud. That means these migration objects contain information about
which tables are needed for migrating the data.
- See the above screenshot, the object is already added to the Selected Migration Objects
- To continue with the next step, click on the “Review” button

button. The download template option will be available after 5 -10 minutes approx.
- The template will be downloaded in the above format; we will complete the above file, and save it
on the Desktop or a specific folder of our system.
- Step-1: Click on the “Upload” button and select the updated XML file, the validation gets scheduled
for the uploaded file. The system will automatically transfer the contents of the file to the staging
tables.
- We can see in the above screenshot; that the file has been successfully uploaded. Now go back
on the main screen by clicking the back arrow.
