Legacy Data Migration Process

1. Tiles: Define Settings for Legacy Data Transfer

In this step, we have to set the posting date on which we want to transfer legacy data. If we Go-Live the
project on the 1st of April then we will set the posting date 31st of March for uploading all opening balances
from the legacy system to the new system.

After logon SAP S4 Hana Cloud through the URL with the Google page.

- Search “Define Settings for Legacy Data Transfer” Tiles, see the above screenshot

- Update Migration Key Date: 31.03.2023

- Update Legacy Data Transfer Status: Ongoing
- Click on Save button
- Click on the SAP logo to go to Launchpad/Main Screen
2. Tiles: Migration Cockpit

The migration cockpit is a tool in the SAP S4 Hana cloud, it is used to migrate or transfer transactional data,
vendor master data, customer master data, asset master data, cost center and profit center master data
from the legacy system to the SAP system. Transferring existing or legacy data is generally the first action
after the system design/configuration and master data creation.
Step 1: Create the Data Migration Project

- Double-click on “Migrate Your Data” [Active Migration Project]

- Go to the Create option and click on “Migrate Data Using Staging Tables”

- Name: Migration Project – Finance

- Select Local SAP S/4 Hana Database Schema
- Click on the “Step 2” button
Note: When we create a migration project, then we must specify a location for the staging tables by
selecting one of the following options: Local SAP S/4 Hana Database Schema or Remote SAP HANA
Database Schema.
If we use the Local SAP S/4 Hana Database Schema, the SAP S/4 Hana migration cockpit will generate
the staging tables in the local ABAP schema of the SAP S/4 Hana system. We use this option if we want to
use only XML template files to fill the staging tables with data.
If we use the Remote SAP Hana Database Schema, the SAP S/4 HANA migration cockpit will generate
the staging tables in the remote SAP Hana Database Schema. For this option, we can use either an ETL
tool (SDI, SAP Data Services, ADP, etc.) or fill the data directly on the SAP Hana database.
