2. The mean of 8, 11, 6, 14, x and 13 is 66. Find the value of the x.

3. The mean of 6, 8, x + 2, 10, 2x - 1, and 2 is 9. Find the value of x.

4. The mean length of 77 planks of wood is 1.35m. When an extra plank of wood is added, the mean
length of a plank of wood increased to 1.41m. What is the length of the extra plank of wood that was
added?

5. In a rowing team, the weight of 8 women, in kilograms,

In order to be a more competitive team, the coach has said that each team member should try to
increase their overall muscle mass which will result in a 2% gain in overall body weight. What will be
the mean weight of the team if all 8 are successful in precisely meeting this 2% weight gain?

6. In a family of 8, the men eat on average 72 kg of food and women eat on an average 50kg of food. The
men and women are equal in number. A hungry woman named Neetu joined the family for dinner and
the average consumption became 67. How much did Neetu eat (in kg)?

7. A total of 25 patients admitted to a hospital are tested for levels of blood sugar, (mg/dl) and the
results obtained were as follows:

Find the mean (mg/dl) of the above data.

8. A class consists of 50 students, out of which 30 are girls. The mean of marks scored by girls in a test
is 73 (out of 100), and that of boys is 71. Determine the mean score of the whole class.

9. Romona buys a chair in a sale for $435.60. This is a reduction of 12% on the original price. Calculate
the original price of the chair.

10. A circle has a diameter of 7 cm. Show that the circumference of the circle is 21.99 cm, correct to 2

11. Raine has a pond in her garden in the shape of a circle. The circumference of the circle is 4.25 m.

21. The mean height of 20 girls and 14 boys is 161 cm in a class. If the mean height of 14 boys is 151 cm,
calculate the mean height of 20 girls in the class.
