SharePoint Adoption Roadmap for

Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan

What is SharePoint? Microsoft SharePoint is a consolidated computing platform
designed for medium to large enterprise. The SharePoint platform, accessible via the
common web browser, is designed to foster greater transparency, visibility,
responsiveness and process efficiency within an organization.
What can SharePoint do? Microsoft bills SharePoint as the business collaboration
platform for the enterprise and the web. With SharePoint, an organization can:

 Enhance Document / Information Management with governance and

accessibility
 Promote better collaboration and enterprise social awareness with
departmental, team and intranet sites.
 Improve reporting with real-time, dynamic dashboards, charts & data
accessible via a centralized platform.
 Automate business processes through rich workflow applications, with process
performance reporting and visibility throughout the entire enterprise.
 Integrate with existing systems (HRMS, and technology investments to
leverage process efficiencies and unlock pockets of actionable information.
A Pragmatic Implementation Strategy
The implementation of a wide-impact, disruptive technology such as SharePoint
within an organization can have significant culture and change management related
challenges. It is therefore the recommended strategy of THKS and Microsoft, to
phase in the adoption of the technology through small, but focused interventions,
focusing on particular functional departments and quick-wins, enabling the larger
initiative to develop significant momentum.
To that end, an abbreviated roadmap for the Bank could potentially be as follows:

User Adoption: The Key to Success

The key differentiating factor between successful and failed implementation attempts
at any organization of significant size is the level of focus and execution of a user
adoption strategy. To that end, THKS recommends a measured and calculated
approach to ensuring success of any SharePoint initiative, the major tenets of which
include:

 Significant end-user involvement and participation throughout the

implementation process to foster a sense of ownership and develop
departmental and enterprise technology evangelists within the Bank.

 Planned feature rollouts in the form of iterative deployment of features, along

with the proactive and rich communication of the rollouts, to ensure sustained
user adoption and engagement throughout the implementation project.

 Audience specific education and training where significant effort is expended

to ensure that all the different types of users (regular, power and technical)
within the Bank are appropriately catered to in terms of education and
training.
