Assignment Guide
Objective
● To apply what you have learned for the week, you will be completing an assignment for each
week.
● To facilitate learning through cooperation with your classmates.

Task
● Create a video/audio/text output.

● Critique at least one classmate’s video/audio/text output.

● Revise your own video/audio/text output according to your classmates’ comments and
suggestions.
● Submit the final version of your video/audio/text output in the corresponding assignment
submission dropbox in UVLE.

Procedure
The general procedure is as follows :
1. POST your video/audio/text output in the corresponding forum every Friday.
2. REPLY to at least one classmate by Monday of the following week. HIGHLIGHT what they did
well in their sentences and SUGGEST what can be improved.
3. IMPROVE your sentences by taking into consideration your classmate’s reply.
4. UPLOAD the final version of your video, audio, text output in the corresponding week’s
submission dropbox by Friday.

For example, for Week 1, the deadline for posting your assignment draft on the UVLE forum is
September 24. You would need to reply by Monday the following week i.e. September 27. Then, after
taking into consideration your classmate’s comments, you will upload the revised version of your
assignment by that week’s Friday i.e. October 1.
The detailed procedure for each assignment are listed below. These are also in each week’s Study Guide.

Assignment 1
1. COMPLETE the following sentences to introduce yourself.

2. ADD other sentences that you have learned and would like to include in your introduction.

Assignment 2

1. In this photo Toño is meeting his host family in Lyon for the first time. WRITE a brief dialogue
of 6 sentences to imagine the conversation.
2. MAKE a video/audio/text output in the corresponding forum by Thursday/Friday of this week.
3. REPLY to at least one classmate by Monday of next week. HIGHLIGHT what they did well and
SUGGEST what can be improved.

Assignment 3
1. Name at least six objects / people in the photo of a classroom at Lyon 3 above. Remember to add
the appropriate indefinite article: un, une, or des. Modèle : Dans cette salle de classe, il y a des
fenêtres, des chaises, etc…
2. Make a list of items in the room where you study. Modèle : J’étudie dans la salle à manger. Il y a
des fenêtres, des chaises, etc… List at least five objects.
3. MAKE a video/audio/text output in the corresponding forum by Thursday/Friday of this week.
4. REPLY to at least one classmate by Monday of next week. HIGHLIGHT what they did well and

1. WATCH/LISTEN/READ your video/audio/text output from Assignment 1.
2. From what you have learned from weeks 2-4, ADD more sentences about yourself e.g. age,
birthday, nationality, country, languages spoken, likes, dislikes, phone number, etc.
3. Imagine that you are talking to your YouTube subscribers/podcast audience/blog readers. START
and END your video/audio/text output with the appropriate greetings. Total number of words
should be 40-60.
4. POST your video/audio/text output in the corresponding forum by Thursday/Friday of this week.
5. REPLY to at least one classmate by Monday of next week. HIGHLIGHT what they did well and
SUGGEST what can be improved.

and END your video/audio/text output with the appropriate greetings. Total number of words
should be 40-60.

weather.
2. WRITE/DISCUSS about the following in 40-60 words :
a. Est-ce que vous avez les mêmes passe-temps que Laila, Blake et Karen? Est-ce que vous
aimez la même sorte de musique? Qui est-ce que vous préférez? Pourquoi?
b. Comparez votre famille avec la famille de Laila, Blake ou Karen. Décrivez votre famille.

weather.
2. ASK them how they are doing then SAY how you are doing.
3. WRITE/DISCUSS what you usually do during the weekend before the quarantine.
4. ANSWER the following questions in complete sentences.

Assignment 9
1. Make a LIST of ten places of interest in your neighborhood/city (architecture, shops, bars,
restaurants, parks, cultural, historical places ...) and specify where they are.
2. WATCH the video 06_voc_villelyon.mp4 for inspiration.
3. USE the following sentences for inspiration:
a. Dans ma ville, il y a un musée. C’est le musée du Louvre. Il se trouve près des magasins
au centre de Paris.
b. Devant le musée, il y a une place. C’est la place du Carrousel.
c. Devant la place, il y a un jardin. C’est le jardin des Tuileries.

Assignment 10
1. LOOK at document A. It is from the website of the city of Lausanne, in Switzerland below.
2. CLASSIFY each walking tour in document A into one of the following categories.
a. Architecture
b. Nature and gardens
c. Shopping
d. History and monuments
e. Art
f. Bars and nightlife venues
g. Others
3. CHOOSE which walking tour interests you.
4. OBSERVE the itinerary of document B and identify the walk proposed by the website of the city
of Lausanne. CHECK your answer by clicking here.
5. MAKE a thematic walking tour using your list of places of interest from Assignment 1. Include at
least five places.
6. NAME your walking tour in French
7. With a map of your neighborhood/city, PREPARE your route.
8. DECIDE where it starts and where it ends.
9. DETERMINE the order of places in the itinerary.
10. WRITE the directions for going from one place to the next. For example :
a. Balade d’art à l’Université des Philippines Diliman. Notre point de départ est la statue
d’Oblation. Après, nous allons derrière Quezon Hall pour aller à l’Amphithéâtre.
Ensuite, nous traversons l’avenue Roxas pour aller au musée Vargas. Devant le musée est
la statue Malakas at Maganda. Après, nous revenons à l’avenue Roxas et nous allons
tout droit jusqu’à la rue Roces. Nous tournons à droite la rue Roces pour aller à la statue
Hardin ng mga Diwata. Cette statue est devant l’ancien Faculty Center. Après, nous
prenons la rue Roces et nous allons tout droit. Nous tournons à gauche l’avenue Osmeña.
Nous continuons tout droit jusqu’au théâtre. Devant le théâtre est la statue UPlift. On
finit notre balade ici.

Assignment 11
1. Look at the Pontoise Tourist Office leaflet below. It offers walking tours. Use this as inspiration
for this assignment.
2. Using your output from Assignment 10, make a comment about each place. For example :
a. Balade d’art à l’Université des Philippines Diliman. Notre point de départ est la statue
d’Oblation. La statue d’Oblation est créée par l’artiste national Guillermo Tolentino.
Après, nous allons derrière Quezon Hall pour aller à l’Amphithéâtre. Nous faisons des
cérémonies dans cet endroit. Ensuite, nous traversons l’avenue Roxas pour aller au
musée Vargas. Devant le musée est la statue Malakas at Maganda. C’est un des mythes
philippins sur la création des hommes. Après, nous revenons à l’avenue Roxas et nous
allons tout droit jusqu’à la rue Roces. Nous tournons à droite la rue Roces pour aller à la
statue Hardin ng mga Diwata. Cette statue est devant l’ancien Faculty Center. Cette
statue représente les neuf arts : l’architecture, la musique, la peinture, la sculpture, la
littérature, la danse, le film et l’art numérique. Après, nous prenons la rue Roces et nous
allons tout droit. Nous tournons à gauche l’avenue Osmeña. Nous continuons tout droit
jusqu’au théâtre. Devant le théâtre est la statue UPlift. Contrairement aux idées reçues,
l'artiste n'a pas l'intention d'en faire une contrepartie féminine de l'Oblation. On finit
notre balade ici.
