2. Learn and revise the concept of Electric Field. Determine the electric field due to an isolated charge.
3. Define an electric dipole and determine the electric field due to an electric dipole on its axial as well as
equatorial line.
4. Find out the torque acting on a dipole in a uniform electric field.
5. Explain the behavior of dipole in a non-uniform field.
6. State Gauss’s Law and determine the electric field intensity due to a line charge, due to and infinite plane
sheet, in between two plane sheets and due to a charged spherical shell.
7. Two identical metallic spheres A and B, each carrying a charge q, repel each other with a force F. A third
metallic sphere C of the same size, but uncharged, is successively made to touch the spheres A and B, and
then removed away. What is the force of repulsion between A and B?
8. Two point electric charges of values q and 2q are kept at a distance d apart from each other in air. A third
charge Q is to be kept along the same line in such a way that the net force acting on q and 2q is zero.
Calculate the position of charge Q in terms of q and d.

charges will be in equilibrium if q=-Q/4.

dipole 15 cm away from the centre O on the side of the positive charge,(b)a point Q, 15 cm away from O
on a line passing through O and normal to the axis of the dipole.
16. A spherical conductor of radius 12cm has a charge of 1.6x10 -7 C distributed uniformly over its surface.
What is the electric field (i) inside the sphere (ii) just outside the sphere, (iii) at a point 18 cm from the
centre of the sphere?
17. Electric field intensity at point B due to a point charge Q kept at point A is 24 N/C and the electric potential
at point B due to same charge is 12 J/C. Calculate the distance AB and also the magnitude of charge Q.
18. Two charges 3x10-8 C and -2x10-8 C are located 15cm apart. At what point on the line joining the two
charges is the electric potential zero? Take the potential at infinity to be zero.

and -60μC at the four corners of the square.
20. Twenty seven drops of same size are charged at 220V each. They coalesce to form a bigger drop. Calculate
the potential of the bigger drop.

intensity is zero at the point P on the line joining them as shown. Write two conclusions that you can draw
from this.
