Conditional tenses are used to speculate about
what could happen, what might have
happened, and what we wish would happen.
In English, most sentences using the conditional
contain the word if.

There are 4 types of conditional sentences,


each type of which uses a different form of
tense.

Usage : A possible condition and its
probable result
If you go now,
If this thing happens, you will arrive there on time

2nd Conditional
Usage : To talk about things in the future that
probably not going to be true
(dreams and fantasies)
If i had more money,
If this thing happened, that thing would happen. I would buy a boat
(but I'm not sure this thing will happen) OR
that thing would be happening. If i spoke French,
I would be living in Paris

Would + infinitive or
Would + present continous

Usage : To talk about the past, it used to talk
about the situations did not happen and to
imagine the results of this imaginary situation
