Applications of Matrices

Que-1 Find rank of the following matrices.

     
2 3 4 1 2 3 5 3 14 4
(i) A = 4 3 1 (ii) B = 2 3 4 (iii) C = 0 1 2 1
1 2 4 3 5 7 1 −1 2 0
Que-2 Solve the system of linear equations using the Gauss Elimination method.

(i) x + y − z = 6 (ii) 4x − 2y + 6z = 8 (iii) x − 3y + 7z = 5

x + 2y + 3z = 14 x + y − 3z = −1 3x + y − 3z = 13
2x + 4y + 7z = 30 15x − 3y + 9z = 21 2x + 19y − 47z = 32

(iv) 3x − y − z = 0 (v) 2x − y + 3z = 0
x + y + 2z = 0 3x + 2y + z = 0
5x + y + 3z = 0 x − 4y + 5z = 0

Que-3 Solve the system of linear equations using the Gauss- Jordan Elimination method.

(i) 2x − 3y − z = 3 (ii) x − y + z = 0
x + 2y − z = 4 x + 2y + z = 0
5x − 4y − 3z = −2 2x + y + 3z = 0

Que-4 Find the inverse of the following matrices by Gauss Jordan Elimination method.
   
3 −3 4 8 4 3
(i) A = 2 −3
 4, (ii) B =2 1 1

Que-5 Solve the following system of linear equations using inversion method.

3x + 2y + 6z = 1
x + y + 2z = 2
2x + 2y + 5z = 3

Que-6 What condition must satisfy in order for the system

x + 2y + 3z = b1
2x + 5y + 3z = b2
y − 3z = b3
