Grading System
The student’s grade for the course is computed based on both formative and summative assessment data. The
computation is detailed below.
Grade Component Weight Computation
Seatwork (SW) 10 % SW Grade x 0.1
Short Quizzes (SQs) 30 % SQs Grade x 0.3
Midterm Examination (ME) 30 % ME Grade x 0.3

Course Policies
Attendance
Your attendance is being monitored. Checking of attendance is done 15 minutes after the start of class. Three lates is equivalent
to one (1) absence. Four absences which is equivalent to 6 hours absence, your name will be given to the Counseling and
Development Center and Services. Six absences which is equivalent to 9 hours absence, you are subject for readmission.

Assignments
You are encouraged to study in groups so you can discuss and share with each other your own ideas and insights. However,
you must do your assignment that is really your work and not a direct copy of your group-mate’s or classmate’s work. Copied
works are usually evident to a teacher. Make sure that you do your own work and that you protect them from plagiarism by
others. Copying can mean a rating of 5.0 (failure) in the given task. Submission of assignments must be done before the class
starts. Late assignments will not be accepted.

Short Quizzes/ Exams

You are expected to be honest when taking quizzes and exams. Any materials related to the subject matter must be placed
inside the bag. Cellular phones and other gadgets must be turned off and placed inside the bag too. Bags must be closed and
placed under your chair. If you are caught cheating, a deduction of 100 points will be given to you.

Missed Assessment Tasks and Exams

In principle, you can only make up for a missed comprehensive exam, not the missed quizzes or other classroom-based
assessment tasks. If you miss to take a comprehensive examination on the scheduled date, you can make a formal written
request to take it on another date only in the case when your failure to take it as scheduled is due to some serious medical
condition or emergency reasons. "EMERGENCY shall be understood as an unforeseen combination of circumstances which
calls for an immediate response to an urgent need for assistance or relief.” Pertinent supporting documents must be attached
to your letter of request.

Consultation& Library Works

My consultation hours with students are posted in the Department Bulletin Board. If you wish to consult me with a quick
question related to a topic or assigned homework, you can just see me in the department without prior notice. You may
consult with me individually or as a group. Students are encouraged to consult with the teacher and do some library works.

Communication
All course-related communications outside of class should be done through the email. I will ask for your email accounts during
our first meeting. I will send to you supplementary learning materials, copies of lecture slides, announcements, instructions,
etc. through the group. Make sure that you regularly check your inbox.

Use of Gadgets in Class

Gadgets should only be used in class in aid of learning. It is allowable that you go online in the classroom if you want to find

out more about something on the topic being taken up. In no way will you be allowed to use your gadgets in class to do social
networking, games, or other activities that have no direct bearing on the ongoing class activity. You may take pictures of what
I write on the board but only after I expressly announce when you can do it. At all times, set your gadgets on silent mode.
