1. You provided with pendulum bob, stopwatch, metre rule, retort stand, clamp and thread of
120cm
Proceed as follows
Set up the apparatus as shown below
Thread
Retort
stand
Bob
Figure 1
(a) Adjust the thread to length (l) of the pendulum bob to 120cm, set the bob into
oscillations by displacing into a small angle and realizing. Record the time (t) taken
for 10 complete oscillations.
(b) Repeat the procedure in (a) above for the length of the pendulum L=100cm, 80cm
60cm, 40cm, and 20cm. record your results in a suitable table including periodic
time, T (s) and 𝑇 2 (𝑠 2 )
(c) Plot the graph of 𝑇 2 (𝑠 2 ) against L(cm)
(d) Determine the slope of your graph
(e) From the graph, state the relationship between T and L
(f) Using the graph, find the time taken by the bob to oscillate when the length of the
bob is , L= 50cm
(g) Suggest the aim of this experiment
(h) State any two (02) sources of errors
2. The aim of this experiment is to determine the emf, “E” and the internal resistance of a cell
using voltmeter “V”,
You are provided with the following; the dry cell, connecting wires, the resistance box R,
switch S, and voltmeter V
Proceed as follows
(i) Connect the circuit and draw the diagram of your connection
(j) Starting with R=10Ω , read and record the value of voltmeter, V (volts)

(k) Repeating the procedure above for the values of 𝑅 = 8 Ω, 6Ω, 4Ω and 2 Ω and
1
tabulate your results including R(Ω), Volt(V), I(A), and (𝐴−1 )
𝐼
1 −1
(l) Plot the graph of R(Ω) aganisnt (𝐴 ) and determine the slope, M
𝐼
(m) Use the graph determine the values of emf and internal resistance of the cell
(n) State any two sources of errors
