ENL 002 Spring 2024 - Syllabus Grammar MW
Course Description
This course is designed to improve students’ level of English and to prepare them for university. Emphasis is on reading,
writing, grammar, and speaking. Passing Grade is “D.”
To achieve course objectives, a communicative and online integration approach will be used:
Question Centered Approach:
It provides a framework for reading and writing activities. Throughout the unit, students will explore a variety of reading
and listening texts and practice the language points and learning strategies connected to the unit theme. At the end of the
unit, students are asked to synthesize what they have learned in a final oral or written assignment, in which they are
encouraged to develop their own argument to answer the unit question.
Explicit Instruction:
Learning skills sections will be highlighted to help students develop important academic skills. Grammar skills will be
explored in context with practice sessions to apply the skill in writing assignments.
Online integration:
It includes a digital platform and workbook with supporting videos, resources, discussion forums, substantial homework
practice and activities.
Self assessment:
Students will view their self-assessment log on the platform, track their performance, check the academic skills they have
learned, and evaluate whether they have achieved the unit learning objectives.
