 Use monitoring tools and network management protocols to troubleshoot data networks.
 Configure monitoring tools available for small to medium-sized business networks.
 Configure initial settings on a network device.
 Configure Ethernet switch ports.
 Learn and configure VLANs.
 Learn Inter-VLAN routing concepts.
 Study STP concepts and EtherChannel.
 Implement DHCP on a router.
 Learn about First Hop Redundancy Protocols (FHRP).
 Study LAN and switch security.
 Learn WLAN concepts.
 Study routing concepts.
 Implement and troubleshooting static routes.
Attendance Policy:
Lecture Hours: Students are expected to attend at least 70% of all the lectures i.e., if a student will miss more than 12
hours of lectures, he/she will get FZ.

1
Lab Hours: If a student will miss more than 2 lab (4 hours) sessions, s/he will not be allowed to take the “Lab Exam”.
Minimum Requirements to Qualify for the Final Exam:
A student who will fail to collect a total of 20 points out of 54 from the weighted average of the Midterm Exam
(25%), Homework (9%), Online Chapter Assessments (5%) and Packet Tracer Exam (15%) AND fail to attend less
than 70% of all the lectures will get FZ grade i.e., he/she will be not be eligible to take the Final Exam and must
repeat the course.
Makeup Policy:
Makeups may ONLY be given to the students with a Bilkent University Health Center approved medical report, for
the Midterm Exam and the Packet Tracer Exam. Students who miss the Final Exam with an approved medical
report will be allowed to take the Make-up Exam. A failing student who will fail to show up either to take the final
exam and/or the makeup exam will get a FX grade.
Changes:
The Information contained in this Course Syllabus is tentative and subject to change. Students are responsible for
every announcement/change made in lecture/Moodle + or sent via email. Students are expected to check their
Bilkent University mail inboxes regularly as important announcements will be sent to them via email. Not attending
the class, not following Moodle, not checking emails regularly is not an excuse, in case they miss something.

Online Course Evaluation:
Course evaluation is a valuable source of feedback from the students to the department and the university which can
greatly help improve teaching and learning. The greater the level of participation by the students, the more useful and
statistically reliable observations and conclusions can be drawn from the evaluation results. Your honest and impartial
comments about what works and what doesn’t work in the course can help CTIS build on the parts of the course that
are strong and improve those that are weak for the next group of students. The course evaluation also provides you
the exclusive opportunity to make your opinion count on an important issue – the quality of teaching at CTIS. Please
don’t forget to complete the online course evaluation form for this course towards the end of the semester.

GenAI policy:
Use of GenAI tools in all assignments and projects is strongly prohibited in this course. We also do not recommend
using these tools for better understanding of subjects discussed during lectures, since they often generate incorrect
information. Instead use Cisco Online Lecture Notes and office hours.
