INTRODUCTION

This operation manual describes how to operate the annotation option function on the CR
Console. For details of other functions/operations, see the “CR Console Operation Manual”
(No.: 010-034-xx) and “CR Console Operation Manual - Supplement: User Utility Operations”
(No.: 010-036-xx).

Operation Procedures

The annotation option function enables input /editing/deletion of annotations on the read
images.

Display the image editing window for each image or study according to the procedure as has
been used previously, and select the “Processing” folder tab. (The operation procedure will be
explained herein using the image editing window for each image. However, the same operation
procedure is available also on the image editing window for each study.)

The annotation input box will appear.

You can also select on the marker input box to display the annotation input box.

Selecting on the annotation input box will complete marker input processing, and
selecting on the same box will cancel processing performed on the marker input box.

1 Annotation Input
This function allows to input an annotation on a read image. (Artifacts may appear around the
input annotation due to spatial frequency processing when the annotation-added image is
displayed or output on film by other devices.)
Select . (Note that appears already selected immediately after the annotation input box
has been displayed.)

To specify a position for annotation before inputting it, select any position on the target image.
The point for input will then be determined. To delete the point for input thus determined, re-
select it.
If no annotation position is specified, it will be input at the center of the image.
It is possible to change the annotation position after it has been input.

Select a character font and size. Input characters in the input field, then select .
Characters thus input will be determined. A maximum of 32 annotations can be input for each
image by inputting characters and then pasting them repeatedly.

NOTE
• Do not input external characters because they may be displayed converted to asterisks.

An annotation immediately after it has been input is in selected state, as shown below.
Whether an input annotation is selected or unselected can be changed alternately every time it
is selected.

To change the annotation position, move the annotation while it is in selected state. (It is not
allowed to place the start point of an annotation outside the image area. For an image after it
has been subjected to trimming processing, the portion of the annotation outside the trimming
frame cannot be output.)

To change the character color/background color of an annotation, select the target annotation
and then select any of the icons shown below.

: White characters/black background


: White characters/transparent background
: Black characters/white background
: Black characters/transparent background

After selecting any of the icons above, select . The box will then close completing thus
the annotation input.

: Cancels the operation.

: Displays the marker input box. If is selected on the marker input box, the
annotation input completes. If is selected, the operation performed on the
annotation input box will also be canceled.

2 Annotation Editing
This function allows to edit an input annotation.

Select .

Select an annotation you want to edit. Whether the annotation is selected or unselected for
editing can be changed alternately every time it is selected.

The content of a selected annotation will be displayed. Make corrections as necessary.

To correct the content of the input field, select after corrections have been made
accordingly.

3 Annotation Deletion
This function allows to delete any input annotation.

Select .

Select (Delete All Annotations) or have an annotation in selected state, then select
(Delete).

After performing steps above, select .

NOTE
• The Delete icon on the annotation input box does not delete markers input on the marker
input box. Use the marker input box to delete those markers. Similarly, the Delete icon on
the marker input box does not delete annotations input on the annotation input box. Use the
annotation input box to delete those annotations.

4 Cautions
• If exposure menus are changed or images substituted for images where annotations have
been input, annotations thus input will be erased.
• When annotations are input on images composed using optional image composition
processing, annotations thus input will be erased if those images are subjected to
recomposition processing.
• When annotations are input on source images for composition processing, those annotations
will be erased to generate composed images.
• Image rotation/reversal processing will move annotations as well (the character display
direction will remain unchanged).

• Input annotations will be printed on output film. If you wish to output films not printed with
annotations, consult you service engineer.
