What is the Circulatory
System?
The Circulatory System, sometimes referred
to as the cardiovascular system, is a vital
organ system in the human body that is in
charge of transporting blood, nutrients,
oxygen, carbon dioxide and hormones. It is
made up of blood, blood vessels and the
heart.
HEART ARRHYTHMIA
Description: Heart arrhythmia, or irregular
heartbeat, is a problem with the electrical signals
when the electrical signals that tell the heart to
01 beat don’t work properly. This causes the heart to
beat irregularly. It can beat too quickly, too slowly,
or with an irregular rhythm.

Symptoms: A fluttering, pounding or racing

feeling in the chest, fast heartbeat, slow
heartbeat, chest pain, anxiety, feeling very
02 tired, lightheadedness or dizziness, sweating,
fainting, shortness of breath
HEART ARRHYTHMIA

PREVENTION
HOW DO WE GET IT Avoid the triggers for arrhythmia
Get treatment for other health
Blood sugar levels that are too low or
conditions that may cause
too high
arrhythmias
Caffeine, illegal drugs, and medicines
Make heart-healthy lifestyle changes
Dehydration
1. Eat heart-healthy foods
Low levels of electrolyte
2. Exercise Regularly
Physical activity
3. Don't smoke
Strong emotional stress, anxiety,
4. Control blood pressure and
anger, pain, or a sudden surprise
cholesterol
5. Limit alcohol
6. Manage stress.
WHAT IS HYPERTENSION?

Hypertension, sometimes referred to as high

blood pressure, is characterized by excessive
blood pressure in the arteries. Blood pressure
is the force of blood pushing against the walls
of the arteries as the heart pumps blood
throughout the body. Hypertension is typically
diagnosed when blood pressure consistently
measures at 130/80 mmHg or higher.
SYMPTOMS OF HYPERTENSION
Headaches
Dizziness/lightheadedness
Blurred vision
Chest pain
Shortness of breath
Nausea/vomiting
Nosebleeds
HOW WE GET IT PREVENTIONS

genetics from family history have a healthy diet

unhealthy diet (ex. salty) reduce taking sodium (salty)
obesity or overweight maintain healthy weight
smoking/alcohol consumption be physically active
lack of physical activity quit smoking
stress reduce alcohol consumption
certain medical conditions (ex. have regular check-ups
diabetes, kidney disease, sleep learn how to manage stress
apnea, and hormonal get enough sleep & rest
imbalances)
AORTIC DISEASE

Aortic disease or Thoraic Aortic

Aneurysm is one of the most
common form of cardiovascular
disease. Disorders of the aorta-the
main artery that supplies blood
from the heart-can be extremely
life threatening. Aneurysms, tears
in the inner lining, and ulcers are
types of aortic disease that
require treatment.
Symptoms
Symptoms that a thoracic aortic aneurysm has ruptured or
dissected include:

Sharp, sudden pain in the upper Loss of

back that spreads downward. consciousness.
Pain in the chest, jaw, neck or Shortness of
arms. breath.
Difficulty breathing. Trouble
Low blood pressure. swallowing.

Quit smoking. This is the most important

part of your treatment to slow the growth
of the aneurysm.
Heart-healthy eating helps lower high
blood pressure or high blood cholesterol.
Manage stress to help control high blood
pressure, especially for thoracic aortic
aneurysms. Get physical activity. prevention
What is Stroke?
A stroke, sometimes called a brain
attack, occurs when something blocks
blood supply to part of the brain or when
a blood vessel in the brain bursts. In
either case, parts of the brain become
damaged or die.
SYMPTOMS OF STROKE
Weakness or numbness of the face, arm or leg, usually on
one side of the body.
Trouble speaking or understanding.
Problems with vision, such as dimness or loss of vision in
one or both eyes.
Dizziness or problems with balance or coordination.
Problems with movement or walking.
Fainting or seizure.
STROKE

HOW WE GET IT PREVENTION

THERE ARE TWO MAIN CAUSES OF STROKE. THE AMERICAN

PREVENTION HEART
AN ISCHEMIC STROKE IS CAUSED BY A ASSOCIATION/AMERICAN STROKE
BLOCKED ARTERY IN THE BRAIN. A ASSOCIATION (AHA/ASA) GUIDELINES ON
HEMORRHAGIC STROKE IS CAUSED BY PRIMARY PREVENTION OF STROKE RECOMMEND
LEAKING OR BURSTING OF A BLOOD VESSEL THAT CIGARETTE SMOKING, PHYSICAL
IN THE BRAIN. SOME PEOPLE MAY HAVE INACTIVITY, OVERWEIGHT AND OBESITY,
ONLY A TEMPORARY DISRUPTION OF BLOOD DYSLIPIDEMIA, HYPERTENSION, AND DIABETES
FLOW TO THE BRAIN, KNOWN AS A BE ADDRESSED AND/OR MANAGED TO
TRANSIENT ISCHEMIC ATTACK (TIA). DECREASE THE RISK OF STROKE.
