How To Import, Process and Export Zeno Mobile Data

This tutorial shows how to import Zeno Mobile data collected in the field into Leica Infinity software. The data is processed using GNSS observations and a reference station to improve coordinate accuracy. The processed data and coordinates are then exported as an ESRI shapefile and saved as an ArcGIS Online web map.

Introduction

This is a step-by-step tutorial in which you learn how to import and process Zeno Mobile data. The
updated data are then exported to SHP to be further used in GIS Software.

Zeno 20 with Zeno Mobile has been used to collect data, that comprises the following:
• Shape files
• Raw GNSS Observations
• Images linked to points/lines/polygons
• Coordinate system

The functionality discussed in this guide requires the GNSS Processing license.

The data in the Data path will be used in this tutorial:

• Reference Station contains the GNSS data from a nearby reference station
• Zeno Mobile.zip is the project file collected in the field

1. Import data

1.1 Start Infinity and create a new

project. To import the data, select
Import from the Home ribbon bar.

1.2 To import the Zeno Mobile data,

navigate to the Zeno Project folder in
the Import dialog, highlight the Zeno
Mobile project and select Import.

Alternatively import project

using Drag&Drop directly from
the Dropbox.

Move to the View to visualize

the imported data.

1.3 Enable the ESRI World Imagery
background map by selecting it in the
Home tab.

To inspect the imported data, go to

the Navigator:
In the Source there is a new folder
with the name of the Zeno job. It
contains raw GNSS Observations as
well as linked shape files.
In the Library the corresponding
Infinity objects are available: Points,
Lines and Areas are created and
linked automatically at import to Zeno
shape files.

The Inspector  Features 

Points shows that all the
points have a Code solution
type, with a quite low
coordinate quality. This can be
improved by importing
Reference Station data and by
GNSS processing.
The attached Coordinate
System with Geoid gets
imported automatically and
can be seen on the right side
of the Status bar.

1.4 To import the GNSS raw data from the

Reference Station, navigate to the
Reference Station folder in the
Import dialog, highlight the file and
select Import.

2. Process the GNSS Observations

2.1 To view information on the imported

intervals, switch back to the data
Inspector and select the GNSS tab.

2.2 To view the GNSS intervals, select the

GNSS Intervals side tab.

The GNSS intervals are shown

in the Inspector.

If the GNSS Intervals view is

not available, you can display
it by selecting the toggle
button at the top right
corner of the Inspector.

2.3 To set WIDN as reference for

processing, highlight the respective
interval in the Inspector and select
Set Reference from the Processing
ribbon bar or right-click from context
menu.

The interval for point WIDN is

now marked in red.

You can also download data

from a reference station. The
details are described in the
“How to download Reference
Data” guide.

2.4 To set the Zeno Mobile mixed track as
rover for processing, highlight the
respective interval in the Inspector
and select Set Rover from the
Processing ribbon bar or right-click
from context menu.

The interval for the Zeno

mixed track is now marked in
green.

2.5 To process the baselines:

1. Select the NGS 14 Absolute
calibration set, as this includes
the most information on the
antennas used in this project.

2. Select Process from the
Processing ribbon bar or right-
click for context menu.

3. View and store the results

3.1 After processing is complete, the

Results page in the GNSS tab of the
Inspector opens automatically.

The Solution Type column

provides information on the
processing.

3.2 To drill in the results and view

information on baseline processing,
select the button that is on the right
side of the Point Id column in the
GNSS tab of the Inspector.

Information on processing
results can be seen here:
Stored Status, Solution Type
and Optimisation, Frequencies,
etc.
A phase fixed solution was
achieved for all static points.

3.3 To store the results, return to the

Results list, highlight the results from
WIDN and select Store from the
Processing ribbon bar, or use the
context menu.

• All the library objects and

linked shapefiles get
automatically updated to the
post processed position.
• GNSS Tracks are now seen as
well.

The Inspector  Features 

Points shows that after Post
Processing all the points have
an Averaged solution type,
with a quite good coordinate
quality.

For more detailed information
about the new coordinates of
the point, highlight an
averaged point and then select
the Pencil in the Local Position
box of the property grid. The
unique contributor of the
average is the Post Processed
Phase Fixed solution (best
possible solution type). The
original code solution is not
considered in the average
because of its low accuracy.

4. Export to ESRI shapefile

4.1 To export all the updated Library

objects including all thematic data,
select Export All from Home Ribbon
bar and by then set the export type to
ESRI-SHP in the export dialog.

• For Shapefile export, only the

points with highest class will
be exported.

You can also export the

single shapefile by selecting
the ExportSelection from
the Home ribbon bar and by
then setting the export type
to ESRI-SHP in the export
dialog.

5. Save as ArcGIS Online Web Map

5.1 To upload Infinity project data to

ArcGIS Online:
1. From within the open project,
select the ArcGIS Online from
the Home ribbon bar.

2. Sign in to your ArcGIS Online

account.

3. The project data opens as a
ArcGIS Online Web Map with
objects ordered by the code.

You can also export the

single objects by selecting
the ArcGIS Online Selection
from the Home ribbon bar.
