1. Define Literature
 Literature is a written work that explores a person's ideas, feelings,
creativity, imaginations, and emotions. It might be a story about a
man's life, his emotions, his frustrations, aspirations, and more, and
it could be expressed using such a beautiful language. It can also
true to life or just a product of someone’s imagination.
 Literature can be made up of events was documented or just a
product of someone’s imagination.

2. Explain the comparison of History and Literature


 For us who happened to born in this era, the contemporary or let us
say ‘modern era’ we clearly have no idea what happened in the
past not until we read literature. Through reading literature from
the past, we are able to trace what happened on that particular era
or places. Was it tragic? Or not?

3. Why do we need to study literature?


 By studying literature, we can have a better understanding as well
as better appreciation to our literature. Also, Literature from the
past or not, can give its readers some brand new ideas, that they
can use wether in their everyday lives or building up their own
literature.

Filipino Literature in English Time Frames Regarding the stages that


signify the development of Philippine literature in English, there are many
differing viewpoints.

1. The Period of Re-orientation (1898-19102)


 Young Ilustrados appearance
1. Illustrados are Educated Elite or Middle-Class Filipinos.
Product of the universities and wealthy families. (Juan Luna,
Graciana Lopez Jaena, Marcelo H. Del Pilar, Felix
Resureccion Hidalgo, Antonio Luna, and Mariano Ponce )
2. Jose Rizal wrote novels about the Philippines during Spanish
rule that have had a significant impact on our society since his
death.
Mariano Ponce was a writer best known for Ang Wika At
Lahi, a study of the importance of national language.
Juan Luna was a painter and sculptor best known for his
painting Spolarium, which was awarded a gold medal at the
Madrid Exposition in 1884.
Marcelo H. Del Pilar was an editor for La Solidaridad and a
writer and journalist. La Solidaridad was a Spanish group
whose goal was to raise Spanish awareness of the needs of
their colony.
3. Most of Ilustrados who used their pens for fighting, were put
in exile.

Similarities of history and literature
 History, or let’s say events or culture and traditions that happened in
the past are mostly written down and become a greatest literature.
Because history and literature are very connected to each other.
Differences of History and Literature
 History and Literature, even they have connections, they still have
few differences. Literature can be made up of figments of the
imagination or untrue events that have been written down, whilst
history is made up of true incidents.
