Role Description

About the role


In this role you will be the key partner to learners and placement providers. You will
work with learners to ensure they are supported to achieve their best, whilst developing
long-term relationships with employers that will increase placement opportunities they
can offer to learners.

A driving licence and regular access to a vehicle is essential and evening work may be
required.

Main Duties
• Your role will be to assess learners in the employer settings. You will assess the
competency and knowledge of learners undertaking a range of childcare and teaching
assistants and review the progress of each learner in line with organisational
expectations to ensure timely completion of qualifications.
• Additionally, you will undertake the required administrative tasks associated with the
role, such as the coordination of tests and examinations and other record keeping.
• You will contribute to wider departmental duties including standardization, curriculum
development and the role is key to contributing to the growth and new developments
of apprenticeships to increase our numbers.

Role Objectives
• To carry out learner assessments and observations in Workplace settings using an
electronic portfolio.
• To carry out teaching and learning within the qualifications.
• To mark learner work and give developmental and constructive feedback.
• To set SMART individual targets.
• To track and record progress of learner’s and provide regular updates to the Team
Leader,
• To take proactive measures to ensure that learners achieve their qualifications within
the allotted time.
• To work as part of a wider team and contribute in a positive way to recruitment,
standardisation and ongoing improvement in quality and performance.
• To contribute to the wider engagement with employers in order to maximise
opportunities.
• To participate in the provision of First Aid assistance if required.

Challenges
• You’ll be self-sufficient; able to manage your work commitments and diary
effectively in order to meet sometimes conflicting demands and deadlines to achieve
required outcomes for students and the College.
• You’ll be able to cope with demanding customers internally and externally and will
be able to use your communication skills to gain agreement and achieve customer
satisfaction wherever possible.
Your role in the department
• As part of the department of Childcare you will report directly to the Curriculum
Manager.
• You will play an active role in the curriculum team, working with key stakeholders
such as Curriculum Team Leaders, Lecturers etc.
• You will also build good working relationships with other key stakeholders in study
programmes such as Maths and English Team.
• You will be able to adopt a flexible and proactive approach to supporting learners
undertaking qualifications.

Requirement for flexibility and updating of the role description


You will be required to carry out duties as maybe commensurate with the post which
do not change the character or purpose of the post which are necessary to maintain
high quality standards of business practice.

Duties must be carried out in strict compliance with all policies including, but not limited

Terms and Conditions – Support Staff


The terms and conditions for the role are as follows:

Salary: Spine Point 20 - 27


Pension: Automatic enrolment to the South Yorkshire Pension Scheme
Holidays: 22-26 days (rising to 25-29 days with length of service depending on salary)
plus bank holidays
