1. If an electric charge of 300C flows for 10 minutes then what is the
value electric current flowing
2. If two resistors of values 20ohm and 30 ohm are connected in
series then their equivalent resistance is
3. A given length of a wire is doubled on itself and this process is
repeated once again. By what factor does the resistance of the
wire change?
4. Two resistors of 10 Ω and 15 Ω are connected in series to a battery
of 6 V. How can the values of current passing through them be
compared?
5. What happens to resistance of a conductor when its area of cross-
section is increased?
2×3=6
6. A) How much current will an electric bulb draw from a 220 V
source, if the resistance of the bulb filament is 1200 Ω?
B) How much current will an electric heater coil draw from a 220 V
source, if the resistance of the coil is 100 Ω?
7. Resistance of a metal wire of length 1m is 26 Ω. If the diameter of
the wire is 0.2 mm, what will be the resistivity of the metal?
8. A copper wire has diameter 0.5mm and Resistivity of 1.6×10-⁸
what be the length of this wire to make its resistance 10ohm? How
much does the resistance change if diameter is doubled?
3×3=9
9. A) An electric heater rated 800 W operates 6h/day. Find the cost of
energy to operate it for 30 days at ₹3.00 per unit.
B) Three resistors of 10 Ω, 15 Ω and 5 Ω are connected in parallel.
Find their equivalent resistance
10. A) Calculate the current through a lamp of 25 W operating at 250 V
B) A circuit has a line of 5 A. How many lamps of rating 40W; 220V
can simultaneously run on this line safely?
11. An electric iron consumes energy at a rate of 840 W when heating
is at the maximum and 360 W when the heating is at the minimum.
The voltage at which it is running is 220 V. What are the current and
resistance in each case?
2×5=10

resistivity of the material of the wire is 50 × 10-8 ohm meter, find
the length of the wire.
B) A bulb is rated at 200 V, 100 W. Calculate its resistance. Five
such bulbs bum for 4 hours daily. Calculate the units of
electrical energy consumed per day. What would be the cost of
using these bulbs per day at the rate of ₹4.00 per unit?
13. Two lamps, one rated 40W at 220V and the other 100 W at 220V,
are connected in parallel to the electric supply at 220V.
(a) Draw a circuit diagram to show the connections.
(b) Calculate the current drawn from the electric supply.
(c) Calculate the total energy consumed by the two lamps together
when they operate for one hour.
