Why is the Central

Management Server (CMS)
Data Not Synchronizing?
Author: Andriy Rybalchenko 3 years ago · Updated

Overview
You are experiencing synchronization issues between the Central
Management Server (CMS) and LanGuard Server Console. Or, even
though there is no error, the CMS is not synchronized with the GFI
LanGuard server, and the information showing in the CMS does not
match the information displayed in the LanGuard console.

Solution
The common root cause for such CMS data synchronization issues is that
the Central Management Server outdated data is cached and needs to
be purged.

1. Delete cached files on the GFI LanGuard Central Management

Server:

a. Log in to the server that hosts the GFI LanGuard Central

Management Server.
b. Ensure that the GFI LanGuard Central Management Server
interface is closed.
c. Stop all the GFI LanGuard services.
d. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\GFI\LanGuard XX
Server\Cache\DataCentralization where XX corresponds to the
current GFI LanGuard version.
e. Delete all files that are in that folder.
f. Start all the GFI LanGuard services.

2. Delete cached files on the GFI LanGuard Server:

a. Log in to the server that hosts the GFI LanGuard instance.

b. Ensure that the GFI LanGuard console is closed.
c. Stop all the GFI LanGuard services.
d. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\GFI\LanGuard
XX\Cache\DataCentralization where XX corresponds to the
current GFI LanGuard version.
e. Delete all files that are in that folder.
f. Start all the GFI LanGuard services.

3. To force the sync, run a scan on the GFI LanGuard Server.

Synchronization should be performed automatically once the scan
completes.
In rare instances, after performing the above steps, it is possible to
receive an error on the Synchronization Status with the Central
Management Server. Usually, this occurs when the services are not
stopped when performing the purge of the noted directories. If this
happens, review the error encountered while synchronizing: Could
not find a part of the path.

If the synchronization issue persists, there might be an issue with IIS.

Check the IIS application pool user credentials and permission, and try
changing it to the same service account that is running the GFI LanGuard
services. Force the sync again by running a scan; synchronization should
be performed automatically once the scan completes.

Testing
Navigate to the LanGuard console Configuration tab -> Configurations -
> Central Management Server and check the Synchronization status.
Then compare the data showing in the CMS with the information
displayed in the LanGuard console. If the issue persists, contact GFI
LanGuard Support.
