Embedded EWM CLASS 42 - Post Processing Framework (PPF) Configuration

The Post Processing Framework (PPF) provides a uniform interface for condition-dependent generation of actions in SAP applications. It schedules, starts, and monitors actions automatically or manually. The document describes how to configure PPF in EWM by creating action profiles, defining actions under profiles, and assigning profiles to document and item types.

Embedded EWM – CLASS 42 – Post Processing Framework (PPF) Configuration

Post Processing Framework (PPF)

➢ It provides SAP applications with a uniform interface for the condition dependent generations of
action, For example printing delivery notes, Faxing, creating subsequent documents and triggering
workflow processes.
➢ It is a Tool for scheduling, starting and monitoring actions, This can be achieved automatically or
Manually.
➢ The Post Processing Framework (PPF) is a Basis technology used in EWM delivery processing for
scheduling and processing actions with reference to delivery documents. Output/message control for
EWM delivery processing uses the PPF

Structure of PPF
➢ Action Profile – Contains action definition and the settings for all the action definition in the profile.
Common profiles contain reusable actions, such as sending e-mail.
➢ Action Definition – Describes the content of an action independently of the processing type.
However, the types with which the actions can be processed, as well as the partners with which the
actions can be executed, are assigned to the action definition.
➢ Action Determination – Checks whether the conditions for scheduling the actions have occurred
using the attributes of the application documents that are available using the business object assigned
in customizing. The technology used for the determination is specified for each action definition. The
standard determination uses workflow rules.
➢ Action Merging – Merges new actions with any actions in the action list or work list that have not
yet been executed, according to specific criteria.
➢ Action List – Lists actions that have been scheduled by the determination process for an application
document. Users can display the action list and if necessary edit it.
➢ Work list – Contains actions that can be scheduled manually
➢ Processing Type – Execute a particular action (for example printing, sending, or starting a
workflow) at runtime.
