Introduction
The Monitoring App for Type I Diabetic Patient Record is designed to assist Type I diabetes
patients in managing their condition. The app automates the process of recording food
intake and estimating the required insulin dosage based on carbohydrate intake. By
providing an intuitive and interactive platform, the app aims to reduce the manual effort
involved in calculating carbohydrate-to-insulin ratios, thereby improving the accuracy of
insulin dosage estimations, and enhancing the overall quality of life for Type I diabetes
patients.
The app leverages a user-friendly interface to make it easy for patients to log their meals,
monitor their carbohydrate intake, and receive precise insulin dosage recommendations. By
integrating advanced algorithms that consider individual user profiles and specific
carbohydrate-to-insulin ratios, the app provides personalized and accurate dosage
estimations. This not only helps in maintaining better glucose control but also reduces the
mental burden on patients who must manage this aspect of their health daily.
Additionally, the app includes features like interactive questionnaires, which help in
adjusting insulin doses based on real-time feedback from users. This adaptive approach
ensures that the app remains responsive to the dynamic nature of diabetes management.
Our goal is to empower Type I diabetes patients with a reliable tool that enhances their ability
to manage their condition independently, thereby improving their overall quality of life. The
app is designed not only to assist with daily insulin management but also to provide
insightful data analysis and reporting features that can be shared with healthcare providers
for more informed medical decisions.
Motivation
• Interest: Managing Type I diabetes is a lifelong task that requires precise and
consistent monitoring, which is inherently challenging. The complexity of calculating
the correct insulin dosage based on varying daily activities and carbohydrate intake
makes this problem both interesting and crucial.
• Challenges: The primary challenge lies in the accurate estimation of insulin dosages.
Miscalculations can lead to severe health complications such as hypoglycemia or
hyperglycemia. Additionally, the need for constant vigilance and data recording can
be burdensome for patients, leading to potential lapses in monitoring.
• Beneficiaries: Type I diabetes patients will significantly benefit from this app. By
automating and simplifying the process of insulin dosage calculation and meal
logging, the app reduces the cognitive load on patients, allowing them to focus more
on their daily activities and less on the meticulous details of their condition
management. Healthcare providers also benefit from more accurate and
comprehensive patient data, enabling better-informed treatment decisions.

Background Study
Unlike existing solutions, our app offers comprehensive meal logging, personalized insulin
dosage calculations, and adaptive user interactions. Current market solutions often focus
on either food logging or insulin calculation but rarely integrate both with real-time adaptive
feedback [1]. We refer to studies and guidelines from diabetes associations and recent
technological advancements in health apps. For instance, the American Diabetes
Association's guidelines on insulin management and research on the impact of mobile
health applications in chronic disease management [2][3]. Our solution integrates these
references into a user-friendly, secure, and interactive platform tailored to individual patient
needs. The app's design considers user experience principles to ensure that it is both
effective and easy to use, even for those with limited technical skills.
The management of Type I diabetes is a complex and ongoing process that requires precise
monitoring of food intake, blood glucose levels, and insulin administration. Despite the
availability of various tools and applications aimed at aiding diabetes management, there
remains a gap in comprehensive solutions that seamlessly integrate all critical aspects of
care.
Project Goal
The project aims to develop an intuitive and interactive platform that helps Type I diabetes
patients manage their condition more effectively. The desired outcome is to enhance the
accuracy of insulin dosage estimations and improve user experience through personalized
and adaptive interactions. Our goal is to create a tool that empowers patients, making the
daily management of Type I diabetes less burdensome and more accurate.

Goal
In conclusion, our app stands out in the market by offering a comprehensive, integrated
solution for Type I diabetes management. By combining meal logging, personalized insulin
calculations, and adaptive user interactions, we address the limitations of existing solutions
and provide a user-friendly, secure platform tailored to individual patient needs. Our
approach is grounded in established guidelines and research, ensuring that our app is both
effective and reliable.
