Plate clamping device Autoplate

Plate clamping device

Autoplate

Method of functioning
The main components of Autoplate are:
– a modified plate cylinder with air supply facility
and two pneumatic bars to open the front and
rear clamping bars,
– a pressing bar which is brought into contact with
the plate cylinder by two cylinders,
– two position switches which monitor the position
of the pressing bar,
– four pneumatic valves which actuate the pneu-
matic bars, the two cylinders of the pressing bar
and the control air for the air supply facility.
For actuation of the cylinders an operating pressure
of approx. 6 bars is required. This pressure is
generated by the pneumatic system compressor E4
and is kept at a constant level by the maintenance
unit. The compressor is switched on after ”Main
switch on”.

2 – ”Opening the front clamping bar”

Note:
Before the rear or front clamping bar is opened,
control air must be admitted to the air supply facility
in the plate cylinder. For this purpose, the plate
cylinder must be at standstill; otherwise the gaskets
could become subject to abrasion. This, in turn,
could cause unintentional venting of the control line.
Then the rear and front clamping bars cannot be
Operator side of printing unit opened anymore.

Sequence of functions
The indicated press angles are valid for printing
unit 1.
From unit to unit these values differ as follows:
Speedmaster SM 102 – 74.57 ,
Speedmaster CD 102 – 197.28 .

Prerequisite:
The plate cylinder will only turn to the correct
position for plate clamping/unclamping, if the coarse
register is set to zero or if the coarse register
sensor n B53 has acquired the current press angle
(see also: Components, sensors / switches, coarse
register detection).

Place of installation

The sensor ”Coarse register monitoring B53” is

fitted on each printing unit.
B53 It is located behind the servo-drive of the
circumferential register where it is screwed to a
fixing angle.

Task
 Positioning bolt
 Sensor B53
The inductive sensor 1...nB53 checks the coarse
manual adjustment of the register.
If the coarse register was readjusted, the
correction value is determined. This allows exact
positioning of the plate cylinder.

The correction value is determined in the course

of a reference-point run (auto-adjustment).
For the reference-point run one revolution at crawl
speed is required.
This means that immediately after the coarse
Sensor and positioning bolt adjustment of the register the operator must allow
the press to make one revolution at crawl speed.

Removal and installation

 Positioning bolt
 Sensor B53
1.0 mm ± 0.5mm
Note:
After each removal and installation, exchange of
the software or memory board or in the case of a
basic initialization of the memory board, the
coarse register sensor must be readjusted ( see
”Adjustment”).

When fitting the sensor, set the distance between

the positioning bolt and sensor to 1 mm ± 0.5 mm.
Tighten up the locking nut and adjust the sensor
as described under ”Adjustment”.

Adjustment
Note:
The adjustment is necessary after each removal and
installation, after the exchange of the software or
memory board, in the case of a basic initialization of
the memory board and for the first start-up.

How to proceed:
Zero the coarse register mechanically on all
printing units:
Insert the positioning bolt at 52 mm .
Zero the circumferential register.
Turn the press at crawl speed.
Set perfector presses to straight printing.

Inserting the positioning bolt at 52mm

Select the service display ”Printing unit”.

 Select the symbol ”Coarse register
adjustment value” for each printing unit
to be adjusted.
Note:
The symbol cannot be deactivated
anymore. The operator guidance
disappears.
The reference-point run ( ”self-learn-run” )
starts. When the new position has been
detected by the sensor, the symbol
becomes inactive.
The zero position has been set.

ment value”
