cylinder, cone, and sphere using various concrete and pictorial model
III. PROCEDURE
1. Preliminary Activities
a. Prayer
b. Greetings
c. Attendance
For today we will be dealing with those figures known as solid figures.
We will visualize and describe the different solid figures.
“GUESSING GAME”
Direction:
The Pupils/Participants will be asked to get each object being blindfolded. He
will give the description first then guess its name.
(The box contains a can of sardines, a Rubik’s cube, a power bank, and a ball.)
It was Ronnie’s birthday. His parents bought him gifts but before he can get it, he
needs to guess it first by visualizing and describing what is in the box.
Let us help Ronnie find out what the gifts are.
Direction:
You will be grouped into five. Then a box will be given to each group. You
are going to do the guessing by visualizing and describing the object.
Group I – Rubik’s cube
Group II – pencil case
Group III – Toblerone
Group IV- a paper weight
Group V- a ball
Group II
How many faces does it have? What is the shape of its faces?
Let us count the edges and vertices again.
Yes, we call this prism as rectangular prism. What do you think is it? It is where we
put the pen and pencils.
(Let’s open it.)
This pencil case is also an example of prism. How do we call it?
Group III
How many faces does it have? (Showing a Toblerone)
Let us count the edges and vertices.
What do we call this prism if it is a triangular?
Group IV
This is another kind of solid figure. This is called pyramid.
Is there a polygonal phase? Where is it?
How many triangular lateral faces are there?
Group V
Here is another one. (Showing coin bank in a shape of a cylinder)
How many bases does it have?
What is the shape of its base?
Yes, and we call it a cylinder. This cylinder-shaped object can be used in saving coins
that Ronnie saves from his allowance. What is it?
What about a rubrics cube? Describe its number of faces, vertices and edges.
Let’s talk about the chocolate? What is the solid figure that it represents? Describe its
number of faces, vertices and edges.
What are the different solid figures were represented by those gifts?
Valuing:
If you were given these kinds of gifts during your birthday, how would you feel?
