TOPIC 1
After being influenced by an advertisement on TV, you bought a product. When you got it , you realised that you
had been manipulated by the ad. Write a letter of complaint in which you give information about the product and
the place where you bought it, to the manufacturer telling him about the defects on the product, the consumers’
rights to adequate advertising, compensation, etc…

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to complain about a recent purchase of your [Shampoo Name], which I believe was
misrepresented in a television commercial. The ad portrayed the shampoo as leaving hair shiny, manageable, and
healthy. This attractive image convinced me to buy it from [Store Name] on [Date] for [Price].
However, after using the product for a while, I am extremely disappointed with the results. Instead of the
promised benefits, the shampoo has left my hair frizzy, dry, and dull. This falls far short of the claims made in the
advertisement.
As a consumer, I have the right to expect truthful advertising. The ad for your shampoo created a misleading
impression, leading me to purchase a product that doesn't deliver on its promises. Therefore, I request a full
refund for the shampoo and an apology for the inconvenience caused.

Many companies do not think of the consequences of their advertisements. (moral or immoral; ethical or
unethical). Their main concern is to make as much money as possible. Write a letter to the manager of a food
company in which you complain about the consequences of their advertisements on children's health.
You may use the following notes: spend a lot of time watching advertisements of food products /eat too much
/become obese / ill blood pressure / diabetes...
Unfortunately, upon closer inspection and after attempting to use the phone, I have discovered that
it is a counterfeit product. The phone lacks the standard features and quality associated with the

I am incredibly disappointed by this situation, particularly considering the premium price I paid for
the phone, believing it to be authentic.

returning the item.

Children and teens are often targeted by junk food advertisements. Write a letter of about 120 words
to Mike Brant ,the director of a fast food company to complain about their effects on those kids.
Imagine you are the manager of Majestic Travel Agency. Write a letter of about 80 to 120 words to Mr.
Bill Gordon in which you apologize by explaining the problem and reassure him that adequate action will
be taken in his favour.

I am writing to sincerely apologize for the unacceptable experience you encountered during your

upon discovering the poor state of the apartment, particularly considering your previous complaint and

Upon further investigation, we discovered a mistake was made. Another tourist couple had
unfortunately booked the same apartment and, during their stay, broke the shower and oven.
Unfortunately, the cleaning lady was unexpectedly absent that day, leading to the uncleanliness you
experienced.
We deeply regret the inconvenience and disappointment this caused. To rectify the situation, we
would like to offer you a full refund for the original apartment. Additionally, as a gesture of goodwill,
