Key Concepts/ In a color theory, a tint is the mixture of a color with white, which increases lightness while a

Developed: Example, pink is a tint of red, and light blue is a tint of blue.
Example, maroon is shade of red and navy is a shade of blue.
Colors express feelings examples dull and dark colors suggest sadness while bright colors
suggest happiness.

Skills Create a finger painting showing the lightness and darkness of colors.

Resources/Materials/ Oslo paper, water color, brush, rags, old newspaper, recycled plastic spoons, red and blue

Introductory Activity Review:
2 min. What color will produced if we mixed the followings:
a. yellow and red ?
b. blue and red ?
c. yellow and blue ?

Motivation:
Every feelings or emotions have corresponding colors, examples, bright colors such
as…..represented happiness and dull/dark colors such as….represented sadness.
…. Sharing their unforgettable experiences…
Activity Activity: Group the pupils into 4 groups…
6 min. Let the groups mix the following pairs of colors and have them observe the
result
a. Mix the colors red and white.
b. Mix the colors red and black.
c. Mix the colors blue and white .
d. Mix the colors blue and black.
Analysis 1. How did you find the activity?
3 min. 2. What happened to the red color when mix to white?
3. What happened if red and black are mix together?
4. What is the result after mixing blue and white colors?
5. What is the result after mixing blue and black colors?
6. In which mixture of colors produces dark? light?
7. What do you call a dull/dark colors? bright colors?

Note: for questions number 5 and 6,this will be discussed in the Abstraction.

5 min. = Tell the pupils that happy or sad feelings can also be felt on paintings through the use of
colors.

= Tints are light values that are made by mixing a color with white.
= Shades are dark values that are made by mixing a color with black.
What are the neutral colors?
= Black color and white color are neutral colors.
What kinds of colors suggest sadness? How about happiness?
= DULL / DARK colors on paintings suggest sadness while BRIGHT colors suggest
happiness.
Application
15 min. Show pupils some examples of finger paintings and says :
Today, you will create finger painting using bright and dark colors.
( Please refer to L.M. page 42 ,Activity 2 )
