goals that you've set

Provide a Purpose to otherwise directionless Life….

Why Goal Setting?
“In the absence of clearly-defined goals, we become strangely loyal
to performing daily trivia until ultimately we become enslaved by it.”

"The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don't
define them, or ever seriously consider them as believable or
achievable. Winners can tell you where they are going, what they plan
to do along the way, and who will be sharing the adventure with
them.”
Goal setting is a powerful process for thinking about your Ideal
Future, and for motivating yourself to turn your vision of this future
into Reality
Analogy of People going to Gym….
Person A – To reduce
weight
Person B – To reduce
waist-line
Person C – To prepare for
Marathon
Person D – To stay fit
How should a ‘Life Time Goal’ be?
The Goal should be for the Highest

It should never be achievable but accomplished everyday

Redefine ‘Goal’ by understanding the ‘Outcome’

Differentiate between ‘Life Time Goal’ and ‘Milestone’

If you have unlimited Money and Time in your Life, will you still
maintain this Goal?
Can we afford to have Singular Goal?
What is Success in Life?

What is Health?

What is Balance or Moderation?

What is Interest?

Can we have Multiple Goals?

What should be One’s Goal?
Setting Lifetime Goals
Career – What level do you want to reach in your career, or what do you want to
achieve?
Financial – How much do you want to earn, by what stage? How is this related
to your career goals?
Education – Is there any knowledge you want to acquire in particular? What
information and skills will you need to have in order to achieve other goals?
Relationships –How do you want to be seen by members of your family?
Artistic – Do you want to achieve any artistic goals?
Attitude – Is any part of your mindset holding you back? Is there any part of the
way that you behave that upsets you?
Physical – Are there any athletic goals that you want to achieve, or do you want
good health deep into old age? What steps are you going to take to achieve this?
Pleasure – How do you want to enjoy yourself?
Social Service – Do you want to make the world a better place? If so, how?
Wheel of Life….
Exercise No 3 – Wheel of Life
Make your own ‘Wheel of Life’
Decide on the major aspects that are applicable to your life
Adjust them in the circle on the paper…..
Now evaluate on a scale of 10, where you stand in each of this
aspect?
The wheel needs to be Round and Big to move smoothly and faster
Write down the aspects which need Focus along with the Intensity
Exercise No 4
Spend some time brainstorming these aspects, and then select one or more
goals in each category that best reflect what you want to do. As you do this,
make sure that the goals that you have set are ones that you genuinely want
to achieve

Write ‘Goals’ down – This crystallizes them and gives them more force

Ensure the Set of Goals are Congruent….

Now you are ready with various things you would like to do in your life in the
Long Term. So lets go ahead and to set the Milestones….
Tips for Stating Your ‘Milestones’

Must be ‘Positively Stated’

Must be under ‘Your Control’

Must be aligned to your ‘Identity’

Must consider the ‘Ecology’

Must be ‘Motivating’
SMART Milestones….
Specific
What exactly needs to be
accomplished
Measurabl Why do we need to accomplish
this
e
How will we know we have
Achievable succeeded
How do I measure the change

Is it feasible
Relevant Do you have the resources
to achieve this

Is it relevant to my
Time life
Is it worthwhile to
bound invest the resources

What is the realistic timeframe

for accomplishment
When should I begin taking
action
Setting Smaller Milestones
Once you have set your lifetime goals, set a Five-year Plan, One-
year Plan, Six-month Plan, and a One-month Plan of progressively
smaller Milestones that you need to complete if you are to reach
your lifetime plan

Tell everyone you know about what you have done to increase your
commitment. If you shy away, there is a deep problem

Periodically review the longer term plans, and modify them to reflect
your changing priorities and experience

A good way of doing this is to record and schedule regular,

repeating reviews using a Diary
Exercise No 5
Go back in your life and think of two Milestones that you had set for
yourself and in one case achieved it and in the other Not achieved
it…..
Live through the Goal. Imagine the surroundings, the preparation, the
restlessness, the feeling of accomplishment / disappointment

Write down
What this Goal meant to you at that time?
How did you plan for it?
How much of Resources (Time, Effort and Emotions) did you invest?
How did you feel when you achieved / Not achieved this Goal?
Power of Sub-Conscious Mind
Our conscious mind is just the tip
of the ice berg
Filters
Our thoughts create the beliefs
which settle down in the Sub-
conscious mind

The power of Sub-conscious Mind

is much greater than the
Conscious Mind
Law of Attraction
Keep the Big Picture of
yourself always
Always indulge in
Positive thoughts to
reinforce the
Favourable Inner Beliefs
Regularly Visualise the
Goals and Milestones in
your Conscious Mind

Roger Banister 4 minutes Mile run….
According to legend, experts said for years that
the human body was simply not capable of a 4-
minute mile.
Further legends hold that people had tried for over
a thousand years to break the barrier
In the 1940’s, the mile record was pushed to 4:01,
where it stood for nine years, as runners struggled
with the idea that, just maybe, the experts had it
right. Perhaps the human body had reached its limit.

The breakthrough
On May 6, 1954, Roger Bannister broke the 4-minute
barrier, running the distance in 3:59.4. .
Barely a year after Bannister’s feat, someone else
ran a mile in under 4 minutes. Then some more
runners did. Now, it’s almost routine. Even strong
high-schoolers today run 4-minute miles
Creating Belief Consciousness
For each Goal, list out
Limiting Beliefs which could be holding you back
Resourceful Beliefs which could help you achieve these Goals

Reinforce the Resourceful Beliefs regularly

Visit and Re-visit your ‘Goal Sheet’

Regular Visualization of the Outcomes / Internal Dialogue
