Unit K2 Chords

Assessment tasks & criteria

There are two alternative tests for this unit. This is for cases when pupils are working
in pairs at a keyboard. One pupil can be given test A and the other test B so that the
2nd pupil to be assessed does not have an unfair advantage.

Allow 5 minutes preparation for the test. With a little practice and skill, you should be
able to organise a procedure where some pupils are preparing while you assess others,
thus saving time.

Two practice tests are included so that pupils can be well prepared for the test.

A 5 point scale for marking is suggested, although this may need to be adapted to fall in
line with your school’s assessment policy. Very simply, if the pupil is successful with test
3 but does not manage test 4, then a mark of 3 should be recorded.
