The first chart shows reason for people choosing cycles to go to work in
the UK. The second chart gives reasons for those who choose to go to
work by car.

In general, majority of people who cycle to work gives priority to health

and the environment, whereas those who commute on their personal
vehicles do it for better comfort and due to long distances to work.

The highest percentages of people who favour cycling say that they prefer
it because it is healthier and reduces pollution and both groups account
for 30% each. A significant proportion (15%) think that cycles are easier
to park, whereas 13% considers that it involves no running cost. At the
bottom-line are those who think that they can reach their destinations
faster by cycles than cars, at 12%.

On the other hand, the most significant reason to travel by car is

comfortable journey, with 40%. Followed by this, an equal proportion
(14%) of people use car to commute to work either because it is faster
than cycling or they need to carry things to work. The least significant
reason for people who travel to work by car is its better safety compared
to cars.

The charts show the amount of money local authorities spent on a range
of services in Canada in three separate years: 1980, 1990 and 2000.

Overall, in all three years the greatest expenditure was on higher

education, whereas environmental services and other expenses received
the least budgetary allocation.

In 1980 higher education received 35% of the budgetary share and it

recorded a major increase by 10% in the next decade, but it fell slightly
to 40% by 2000. The next major beneficiary, K-2 Education received a
quarter of the total funds in 1980 but in the next two decades it fell

significantly to 18%. The budgetary share for transportation decreased
considerably to 6% in 1990, from 16% at the beginning of the period, but
rose dramatically in 2000 when it accounted for 22% of the expenditure.
In contrast, expenditure on health and human resources showed an
opposite trend, as it rose to 20% by 1990 before decreasing to only 10%
by the end of the period. Environmental services and other services
received the least funds by the local authorities in Canada and they
always remained below 10%.

The pie charts show the electricity generated in Germany and

France from all sources and renewables in the year 2009.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main

features and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

The four pie charts compare the electricity generated between Germany
and France during 2009, and it is measured in billions kWh. Overall, it can
be seen that conventional thermal was the main source of electricity in
Germany, whereas nuclear was the main source in France.

The bulk of electricity in Germany, from a total output of 560 billion kWh,
came from conventional thermal, at 59.6%. In France, the total output
was lower, at 510 billion kWh, and in contrast to Germany, conventional
thermal accounted for just 10.3%, with most electricity coming from
nuclear power (76%). In Germany, the proportion of nuclear power
generated electricity was only one fifth of the total.

Moving on to renewables, we can see similar proportions for both

countries, ranging from around 14% to 17% of the total. In detail, in
Germany, most of the renewables consisted of wind and biomass,
totalling around 75%, which was far higher than hydroelectric (17.7%)
and solar (6.1%). The situation was very different in France, where
hydroelectric made up 80.5% of renewable electricity, with biomass, wind
and solar making up the remaining 20%. Neither country used
geothermal energy.

people of the world while this percentage was higher in China with 32%,
than India at 23%. Foods from animals were the next largest consumed
item and interestingly Indians ate more than the world average with 27%.
Nuts and seeds consumed in India and China were much higher than the
world average.

In summary, Indian ate more animal foods than Chinese while Chinese

The charts below show the results of a survey about what people

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main

features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

There are several similarities between what younger and older people say
makes them most happy. However, there are several striking differences.

Firstly, let us look at the similarities. It is noticeable that for both younger
and older people, the highest percentage says that achievement at work
brings them most happiness: 31% for the younger age group and 32%
for the older group. Doing hobbies is also very important for both groups:
the second largest percentage of both age groups mention doing hobbies
as making them most happy.

Turning now to the differences, many younger people regard having a

good appearance as extremely important: 18% of them state this brings
them most happiness. This is followed by 15% who state that travel
brings them happiness. Neither of these two factors is mentioned by older
people. Instead, 20% of older people report that having financial security
is most important to their happiness and 14% say they feel most happy
when they are with their family.
