EXPLORE Activity 1: Introduction to Baseball/Softball

Teaching Strategy: Cooperative Learning


Materials: PowerPoint presentation, posters of baseball/softball
equipment
Significance: This activity will provide an overview of the nature
and background of baseball/softball.
Instructions:
1) Divide the class into small groups.
2) Each group will research and create a presentation about the
history, rules, and equipment used in baseball/softball.
3) Each group will present their findings to the class.

Rubric:
- Accuracy of information: 5 pts
- Presentation skills: 5 pts
- Creativity: 5 pts

Assessment Questions:
1) What is the origin of baseball/softball?
2) Name three essential pieces of equipment in baseball/softball.
3) What are the basic rules of the game?

EXPLAIN Teaching Strategy: Lecture


Explain the history and development of baseball/softball, including
its origins and how it has evolved over time. Visual aids and
