2. Testing all the equipment in the table above
i) Check the shut-off valve position at the compressor and make it off-position (vertical
position).
ii) Switch on the compressor. Observe if the pressure gauge reading is increasing. Wait until the
compressor switched off automatically and record the pressure reading
P = ___________
iii) Read the following note
The work bench is shown below. The components have a quick connector to fix them on the base
panel of the workstation. Press the fittings head with your two fingers while you pull or fit the plastic
tubing from/in the fittings.

Quick connector ---fixed status

Quick connector – removal way

iv) Construct the following circuit on the workbench including manifold and other fittings

A1 A2 A3

v) Open the shut-off valve (horizontal position) and record the action of each actuator
A1: ______________ A2 _________________ A3 __________________

vi) Take pressure P1 readings at the following points as shown in the Table

No Readings at P1 P2 Discuss in the readings

1 Compressor
2 Air service unit
3 At the cylinder A1
4 At the cylinder A3

vii) Adjust the working pressure to 4bar as shown below and record the pressure P2 readings
a) Pull over the service unit cover
b) Rotate forward to add pressure
c) Reverse rotate to reduce pressure
d) Normally set the pressure to 4 bar

viii) Switch of the shut-off valve and construct the circuit shown below

Z1

ix) Record the action of the cylinders and the readings of the manometers

A1: ____________ A2: _____________ A3: ____________ Z1: ______ Z2: _________

x) Check the operation of the manifold and the fittings used and write your observation (Be
careful and Hold firmly the plastic pipe when you remove it from the fittings, as pressurized
plastic swing wildly)

xi) Turn-off shut-off valve and the power input then dismantle the circuit and return to their
place
xii) Write what you have learnt from this practice and write your observation
